1. Introduction Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic progressive inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS). It is a complex disease, affecting 2.8 million people worldwide, in which there is an immune response against the myelin sheath of CNS axons, but its underlying mechanisms are only partially understood. In terms of disease mechanisms, it is known that the patient’s immune system starts to attack its own CNS.
