Are Individual Differences in Food‐Related Disgust Associated With Thermal Taster Status?
1 Introduction The extent to which individuals experience food-related disgust varies (Hartmann and Siegrist 2018) and can play an important role in sustainability-related food behaviors (Ammann et al. 2018b; Lammers et al. 2019; Ruzgys and Pickering 2020). For instance, individuals with higher food-related disgust are less willing to eat expired foods (Ammann et al. 2021) and leftovers (Nikravech and Nina 2025), are less tolerant of imperfections in foods (Ammann et al.

Research ABSTRACT The relationship between power dynamics and decision making in natural resource management is central to explaining governance outcomes. Contemporary catchment governance is increasingly characterized by the interaction of multiple stakeholder groups, which has shifted processes like collaboration and social learning into the focus of water governance research and related fields.
The role of perceived powerlessness and other barriers to climate action
INTRODUCTION The impacts of anthropogenic climate change are rapidly worsening. Increased extreme weather and natural disasters, permafrost thawing, scarcity of clean water, economic hardships, and wide-scale reports of displacement of vulnerable individuals are occurring at an alarming rate (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change [IPCC], 2021). Sadly, most projections show that this crisis is escalating and will continue to worsen (IPCC, 2018, 2021).

The current global food and beverage system is unsustainable. In 2023, world leaders issued a declaration at the UN climate change conference COP28 acknowledging the role that more sustainable and resilient agri-food systems can and must play in responding to the climate crisis. The wine industry is both one of the sectors of our agri-food system most affected by climate change and is also a small (if not insignificant) contributor to system-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Ripple effect: How public attitudes can shift governments toward sustainable, and resilient, water systems
With all the negative news coming out about climate change, its impacts and its possible trajectory in the not-so-distant future, it can be difficult to maintain hope for a brighter future. The last few years have been challenging, even for optimists, with international climate meetings like the recent COP28 in Dubai emphasizing how far we are from where we need to be in terms of climate action.

Reducing eco-anxiety is a critical step in achieving any climate action
There must be a balance between sufficient anxiety to promote positive and urgent change in people’s behaviour, and not so much as to create paralysis. How we communicate facts matters, these researchers say. By Kerrie Pickering and Gary Pickering 4 minute read Aug. 7, 2023 We all have times when we feel anxious about our future; perhaps this is more acute for many people this summer, as we experience unprecedented wildfires and heat waves due to the warming climate.

Reducing 'eco-anxiety' is a critical step in achieving any climate action
We all have times when we feel anxious about our future; perhaps this is more acute for many people this summer, as we experience unprecedented wildfires and heat waves due to the warming climate. General anxiety intensifies climate or "eco"-anxiety. This can spur some people to climate action, while for others it can lead to a state of paralysis and inactivity. Our recent Canadian study looked at how values and action around climate change vary with an individual's personality traits.

The impact of dosage sugar-type and aging on Maillard reaction-associated products in traditional method sparkling wines
Introduction Sparkling wine is a rapidly growing sector of the global wine industry, with over 20 million hectolitres produced each year (OIV, 2020). The technology used to produce sparkling wine is a critical factor in determining wine style and quality. Although several methods exist, traditional method or Méthode Champenoise wines have been widely studied for their aging potential and complexity (Culbert et al., 2017).
Virtual reality may help us develop empathy for oceans and marine life

Hundreds of kilometres from shore, and covering two-thirds of the Earth’s surface, the high seas are a world that few of us will ever see. After more than a year in the field, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ian Urbina concluded: “There are few remaining frontiers on our planet. Perhaps the wildest, and the least understood, are the world’s oceans.” Governed by no single country or authority, the high seas represent a literal and figurative final frontier.
