Greg Brady: I ran for office for the first time-and lost. Here’s what it’s like
I’ve only ever wanted to do three things in my adult life—I swear to you. 1) Be a sports broadcaster/talk show host 2) Be a news broadcaster/talk show host 3) Be a politician We can’t have everything in life, but in the last seven weeks, with those first two goals already accomplished, I attempted the Brady Triple Crown.
How to Improve the Automotive Supply Chain
Today I want to talk about the challenges faced by today’s automotive suppliers, and why a network model for their supply chain can help. Supply chain organizations within the automotive supplier industry contribute to manufacturing excellence in many ways, including quality, cost, and delivery to their original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and subsystem customer base.
Greg Brady: Radio shows aren't meant to last, but I could've worked with Jamie Samuelsen forever
Greg Brady, Special to The Detroit News Published 10:12 a.m. ET Aug. 2, 2020 Buy Photo Jamie Samuelsen worked for WDFN 1130-AM The Fan from 1994 through 2007. (Photo: The Detroit News) Editor's note: Greg Brady, now a radio host in Toronto, was Jamie Samuelson's co-host on WDFN 1130-AM The Fan from 2002-07. Why two-week gap before Super Bowl is necessary — and here to stay - Sportsnet.ca
Greg Brady | @sn590gbrady January 28, 2019, 12:01 PM Greg Brady @sn590gbrady January 28, 2019, 12:01 PM You might have thought you were ready for Super Bowl LIII this past Sunday, but let’s be honest with ourselves: Wasn’t it great getting room to breathe? We all needed it after maybe the most stunningly exciting Conference Championship Sunday in the history of the sport. The only possible comparable happened on Jan. 22, 2012.
NFL Playoff Storylines: There will be no Eagles QB controversy
Deshaun Watson is the best among young quarterbacks on the losing side, the Philadelphia Eagles shouldn’t complicate their QB situation next season, the Los Angeles Chargers might regret flying home and the Chicago Bears are going to be just fine. Here are five storylines from the NFL playoffs. The Texans loss wasn’t a “setback” for Deshaun Watson We all know how bad it looked, so imagine how it must have felt like on the Texans’ sideline.
NFL Storylines: Vikings' Kirk Cousins experiment already a failure
The NFL regular season is over and suddenly we’ve got 12 playoff teams and eight head coaching vacancies. Oh, and more dysfunction (to say the least) with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Let’s not waste words – here are takeaways from the end of the 2018 regular season as we head towards wild-card weekend. The mega-deal for Kirk Cousins in Minnesota has failed As I’ve written here before: if I’m the Minnesota Vikings, I don’t sign Cousins to be my franchise quarterback.
NFL Week 16 Storylines: Patriots dynasty might have one last gasp
It took until Wednesday morning this week for me to realize there wasn’t a Thursday Night Football game. It will be missed. Heading into Week 17, it’s probably quite fair the NFL doesn’t want to give a competitive balance or imbalance to a team playing its second-last game on barely three days rest, and have a team play its final, possibly all-important game on 10 days rest.
NFL Week 15 Storylines: Bears could be biggest NFC threat to Rams, Saints
Only three games per team remain in the 2018 NFL season. I’m sure we ask ourselves these questions every season – ignoring previous years in the process – but how did we get to Week 15 so fast? And can you even remember a time when so much was still up in the air? The answers are usually along the lines of: “Well, life moves fast,” and “Yeah, probably last year.” But the reason we ask those questions, redundant as they may be, is the excitement that comes with this time of the season.
NFL Week 11 Takeaways: Chicago Bears make statement
The adrenalin is still flowing after that Chicago Bears win on Sunday night, and we have the best Monday Night Football game this late in the season since Joe Montana’s 10-1 San Francisco 49ers met Phil Simms’ 10-1 New York Giants in November 1990. That game’s finish? San Francisco 7, New York 3! Ten points probably get scored in the first four minutes in Chiefs versus Rams.
NFL takeaways: Rams are great, but a deceiving 8-0
What we’re not used to is it actually happening in the NFL. The smartest move the league ever made was moving it back a couple weeks, because no one wants to wave the white flag on a season five or six games in. But eight games? You can sell that a bit more to your fans, especially those who craft draft picks. Significant moves by Philadelphia to get Golden Tate and Houston to get Demaryius Thomas proved that big-time receivers are more valued than ever.
8 Fundamentals for Achieving Artificial Intelligence Success in the Supply Chain
One Network’s Real Time Value Network ™ provides community based supply chain solutions in the cloud to help customers increase profitability and efficiencies by optimizing… In this white paper, you will learn why blockchain platforms vary widely in terms capability, disclosure, confidentiality, anonymity, the cost to use, and speed, and why companies need to leverage more than one blockchain network to realize… There’s a lot of buzz and hype about artificial intelligence (AI) in supply chain...
NFL Week 7 Takeaways: Jaguars have to stick with Blake Bortles
It feels like we are that much closer after Week 7 to narrowing down the field of potential Super Bowl participants, and yet, further away from figuring out teams who could potentially draft in the top three. Or is it just a matter of time until the Raiders own ALL top three picks for the 2019 NFL Draft? People have talked about the Rams and Chiefs on a collision course for a neutral site game in mid-November in Mexico City, but the NFC may swing another way, even before then.
NFL Week 6 Takeaways: Mahomes, Chiefs prove they belong
There’s so much to get to from a Sunday of amazing 1 p.m. finishes, very little drama in the 4 p.m. games, and a Sunday night contest that completely lived up to the hype. Also, no controversial roughing the passer calls. Progress! I know it feels a little like there’s been some, well, slippage by the Los Angeles Rams because of their recent results. They won their first three games by a combined 67 points, and since then have won three one-possession games by a combined 12 points.
NFL Week 5 Takeaways: History will deem Brees better than Rodgers
Here are five takeaways from Week 5 in the NFL: 1. AFC Championship Game will be played in one of two stadiums: Gillette or Arrowhead Is there a third viable option in the AFC? I really believed Jacksonville and their offensive attack had turned the corner, especially after a Week 2 demolition of New England.
Steelers' early-season struggles could be cause for panic
There are very few organizations in sports like the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s consistent in that the team always seems competitive, even when it isn’t. The team is never terrible, even when it’s bad. Most importantly, the team’s decision-makers never seem to react reflexively to adversity with trades or firings.
Seahawks' current state proves how unique Patriots dynasty is
What’s harder: to have loved and lost, or to never have loved at all? A more pertinent question to NFL fans: is it better to watch your team suffer an obvious and painful decline from being a perennial Super Bowl contender, or to never have competed at all for the league’s glittering prize? I’d certainly argue the latter. It’s disingenuous to paint the Buffalo Bills’ four Super Bowl losses as some kind of a rough time to be a fan.
Aaron Rodgers' talent not translating into accomplishments
If it wasn’t Aaron Rodgers Sunday night doing all that he did, it’s almost a bigger story, isn’t it? Like, if Andy Dalton or Ryan Tannehill did it, it’s almost more unbelievable, and yet we’re talking about it less. He’s Aaron Rodgers, so of course that happened. How many Hail Marys have you actually witnessed in person or on televised games? Rodgers did it twice in one season, in that evening game in Detroit, and to force overtime in that classic game in January 2016 against the Cardinals.
Buffalo Bills going with Nathan Peterman over Josh Allen is right call
Sometimes for the Buffalo Bills fan in your life, it feels like they can’t win for losing. I mean, the reasons for such are well-documented. Four straight Super Bowl losses in the early 1990s, and that’s deemed a negative, not a positive.
Free Agents and the Babcock Factor - Myths and Realities
Caught up in the middle of a live-and-die Eastern Conference playoff race, what’s the fun of not having a distraction or two filled with theories, conspiracy and otherwise, about the impact of the Leafs’ larger-than-life head coach and the potential for NHL UFAs to want to or not want to play for him? I mean, does Glen Gulutzan have socks named after him? No, he does not.
NFL conference title predictions: Can the Jaguars do the impossible?
That’s the question on everyone’s mind heading into Championship Sunday. These two conference title games have a lot to unpack and examine before we can come to a decision. Let’s take a closer look at each matchup. Why the Jaguars will win The obvious reason you might want to suggest the Jaguars can pull this off is they aren’t much bigger underdogs than they were last week headed to play a rested Pittsburgh Steelers team.
NFL wild-card predictions: Which road teams have a shot?
Twelve of 32 teams remain in the hunt for the golden invitation to Super Bowl LII, and though wild-card weekend has produced classic games in the past, it’s notable that each home team this weekend is a definitive favourite. None of the host teams look out of place as hosts in this round, but three of the four home venues — New Orleans, Los Angeles and Jacksonville — are absolute surprises based on pre-season predictions.
Which NFL coaches are unlikely to survive Black Monday?
The National Football League is the North American professional sports league with the most frequent coaching turnover, and most of the bad news comes at an unfortunate time of year, usually just after the Christmas holidays or as a new calendar year begins. But there’s nothing quite like the speculation leading up to “Black Monday” — the day after the regular season wraps up and failed coaches are finally relieved. Which head coaches are on the hot seat as that fateful day fast approaches?
Rams, Chargers turning NFL's tragic L.A. story into a triumph
All the jokes have been told, and all the punchlines registered about football in Los Angeles. If you’re an NFL fan, you’ve certainly heard them, and you’ve likely also told them. You can start with the “size does matter” argument about the StubHub Center, which the Los Angeles Chargers call home. It holds 27,000 for NFL games, and for most of this season it hasn’t needed to.
Bills haven't earned enough trust to make quarterback switch
You have to earn “trust,” in any aspect of life, don’t you? The conditions of the “trust tree” aren’t much different in professional sports. Some organizations are so well run and established, with an infallible brand, that you just assume when they make a move in free agency, or reach at their league’s amateur/college draft, that they will get it right and they know what they’re doing.
Why the NFL needs to put an end to Thursday Night Football
All the players can do is grin and bear it, really. Thursday Night Football — which the league has promoted and branded and, obviously, sold for tens of millions of dollars — claimed another victim in Seattle’s 22–16 win in Arizona against the Cardinals last night. The Seahawks lost veteran four-time Pro Bowler (and close personal friend of Michael Crabtree) Richard Sherman for the remainder of the season, potential playoff games included, thanks to a ruptured Achilles.
Don't fight it - now is the time to jump on Patriots bandwagon - Sportsnet.ca
Admit it — if you’re an NFL fan, you’ve at one time or another counted out the New England Patriots based exclusively on things you’ve seen between Labour Day and Halloween. In the days since the Sunday-evening pounding of the Atlanta Falcons, I’ve seen and heard more than several NFL pundits attempt to find reasons why the Patriots’ might not be suiting up at the Vikings’ new stadium in Minneapolis for Super Bowl 52 in February.
Why Rodgers's injury is the one thing that can unite all NFL fans
It’s amazing what ended up uniting almost all NFL fans last weekend. Take any 50 NFL diehards at random, and you will get amazingly diverse opinions on who the best teams are, who the best coaches are, and whether the sport is now too safe or not nearly safe enough. But there was a universal sense of lament after Aaron Rodgers’s collarbone injury early in the first quarter in the Packers-Vikings game. Yeah, even among Vikings fans. Even among Cowboys and Seahawks fans.
Tide is turning on storied rivalry between Eagles, Steelers
There are numerous rivalries across the NFL. Some are based on geography and history, while others are born out of divisional and conference play. You know which ones they are and we all have our favourites. With certain NFL rivalries, they are more intense when teams are at their apex. Many will claim that the “the league is better” when Team A and Team B are both good, and there’s no question that’s true.
Why it's fair not to be 'all in' on undefeated Chiefs
There’s no question our level of confidence in sports teams often has as much to do with the past as it does the present. You’ve seen something enough times that you give credit in your mental memory bank to some, and are much more stingy in being a “credit-loan officer” to others who haven’t earned it yet. This makes what to do with the 2017 Kansas City Chiefs incredibly confusing.
Cam Newton's early struggles put Panthers in difficult position
It’s the ultimate chicken-and-egg game right now in Carolina, but the Panthers aren’t playing it with just any player — they’re playing with the 2015 Most Valuable Player. It’s a very short list of NFL quarterbacks who have won MVP this century, and they all look (and sound) like all-time greats. Quite obviously, Newton being on a list with Brady, Manning, Favre, Warner, Rodgers and, as of last season, Matt Ryan, is a major accomplishment.
Brady's Hateful Eight: Home underdog Washington will beat Oakland
Every Friday on Brady & Price on Sportsnet 590 The Fan at 8:30 a.m. ET, Greg Brady will discuss his Hateful Eight NFL picks of the week. Look, Baltimore isn’t terribly good, I don’t believe, but they get another game to avoid having to prove it against Jacksonville. Even though Wembley Stadium is quite familiar to Jacksonville’s core, and they’ve won their past two visits there, I’m not sure they’ve played a team as strong as the Ravens – who look like a very 9-7ish squad to me, but no better.
Why AFC West won't be as dominant as you think
Such early days in the NFL, but that never stops all of us from forecasting further ahead than we can actually see. It’s fun when you happen to be right, and it’s a wonderful lesson when you happen to be far less right, as long as it isn’t costing you too much of what’s in your wallet. But one thing I’ve heard a lot of this week is how strong and powerful the AFC West is, above all others. I’m impressed, also, yes.
Brady's Hateful Eight: Taking Cowboys, Eagles on the road
Every Friday on Brady & Price on Sportsnet 590 The Fan at 8:30 a.m. ET, Greg Brady will discuss his Hateful Eight NFL picks of the week. Here’s a sneak preview. Of course, the spread’s a bit too high, but you have to believe Cam Newton will look better than he did in the first half of last week’s walkover win over the 49ers. New season and new coach, yes, but the Bills have only covered in one of their past five road games. This number will increase as the week continues.
Three NFL teams that need to rethink their quarterback situation
It’s a safe and established macro-concept that quarterback is the most important position in all of professional sports, and whatever you deem second place (hockey goalie, basketball point guard, or others) isn’t all that close behind it. Last week, I wrote about the NFL’s lack of parity when it comes to end-of-season results.
The NFL is a parity league? Tell that to the Buffalo Bills
You see that slogan all the time when it comes to the NFL — “Any given Sunday.” I mean, you get the concept. Regardless of talent, coaching, pedigree, location, atmosphere or history, you’d better tune in to this game because it could go the exact opposite way you think it’s going to. But does it make sense when you apply the theory to whole seasons? Well, yes and no.

Why it's fair to debate Federer's 'greatest of all time' label
We’re all quite amazed by Roger Federer’s achievement in winning an eighth Wimbledon title and 19th grand slam — just a marvelous achievement for a class act. After beating Andy Murray soundly at Wimbledon in 2012, a 30-year-old Federer had 17 grand slam titles, with perhaps more in the making. After all, at that point, Murray hadn’t broken through and won any of this three Slams yet, nor had Stan Wawrinka, and even the great Novak Djokovic had won only five of his current 12.
Dallas Eakins content in AHL yet hopeful for second NHL shot
We all want that second chance at something. Some of us get it, and some of us don’t. We might get a chance personally that we won’t get professionally, or vice-versa. For 50-year-old Dallas Eakins, he’s of two minds: incredibly content and pleased with how his two years in San Diego have gone coaching the AHL’s Gulls, and yet wistful about his brief foray into the NHL head coaching ranks in Edmonton, while being hopeful about getting another opportunity.
Disrupting E-Commerce: How Digital Networks Are Creating A Better Consumer Experience
Not too long ago, the key to winning customers was in the quality of products or services an organization was able to deliver. However, with estimates claiming that by 2020 e-commerce sales will exceed $27 trillion, things have certainly changed. The rise of e-commerce and the popularity of smart devices, has shifted the balance of power away from retailers and brands and put the consumer squarely on top.
It may be hard, but Raptors fans should be rooting for a Cavaliers comeback
Whether they can stomach it or not, the Toronto Raptors and their fans might want to root for the Cleveland Cavaliers to turn the NBA Finals into a competitive series. Should the Cavs get swept and continue to get blown out every game, Cleveland could deciding to re-boot their roster yet again and make a big splash by acquiring another superstar, like Paul George or Jimmy Butler.
Making a success of collaboration - Automotive Logistics
The automotive industry is in the midst of massive change. From ride-sharing services, advances in mechanical innovation and autonomous vehicles, and shifts in fossil fuels and hybrid power, these disruptions are helping to fuel some amazing transformations. Winning in this environment requires the ability to collaborate, plan and execute with trading partners, and pull together entire communities at a speed that current business processes and enterprise systems simply can’t support.
No Matter How It Ends, Bozak Leaves Mark On Leafs’ History
Most of us have already issued a general mea culpa to not only Tyler Bozak, but his close friends and relatives also. It couldn’t have been easy for him here, for a good chunk of his time. I rarely believe athletes when they say they’re able to tune it all out, not read the bad reviews, not hear the heckles during quiet moments of regular season home defeats (there have been more than a few during Bozak’s time here).
History against Falcons in rebound from Super Bowl defeat
Facing maybe the longest and most-questioned off-season in the history of any Super Bowl loser, you have to wonder if this year’s Atlanta Falcons are facing objects in their way of equal magnitude, both present and past. Of course, it’s never fun getting that close to the pinnacle, and the Falcons would be forgiven if on Feb. 5 in Houston they started flash-forwarding in their collective minds toward certain images. They’d be forgiven then, and they can be empathized with now.
Leafs' Lamoriello Faces Serious Accusations -- Is The NHL Watching?
Maybe it's the time of year and the hustle and bustle of it all. Maybe it's the familiar (if not valid) refrain of another NHL retiree, an enforcer in this case, to some, "complaining" about a job he signed up for and was paid handsomely to do, simply because that job, as most inherently physical ones do, comes with a price, and in this case a heavy one.
It’s All There For Matthews To Be Best Leaf Ever. Yes. I Said It.
Photo Credit: Marc DesRosiers/USA TODAY SPORTS It’s what could be considered some form of “synchronicity” (no, not just the Police’s 2nd best album of all-time behind “Ghost In The Machine”, but events that can be considered “meaningful coincidences”), Auston Matthews became the first-ever NHL player to score four goals in his first game, followed 48 hours later by the Maple Leafs introducing their Top 100 All-Time Maple Leafs list, which of course, as it’s supposed to do, sparked debate,...
Pavel Datsyuk officially, finally, actually confirms he's leaving the Red Wings and going back to play in Russia
Well, we finally have an answer. Pavel Datsyuk announced today at a press conference that he's heading back to Russia. There's more for Datsyuk to say, (and he did say it), but nothing was all too surprising considering the rumours that had come out for weeks: He leaves the Red Wings with 918 points in 953 games, two Stanley Cup rings, four Lady Byng awards, three Selke trophies, and perhaps most importantly, the 2007-08 Bud Light Plus-Minus award.
Brady's AL East Round-Up: June 10th
Things can change rapidly in a week of baseball. Last week we're raving about the Red Sox hitting, doom-and-glooming it about every Orioles starter except Chris Tillman, and talking about the Blue Jays fattening up and getting back into contention. This morning? The Blue Jays lose a second game this week they shouldn't have, concerns continue to grow about who the real Marcus Stroman is, and the Yankees (and even Rays) show signs of life. It happens. It's baseball.
Brady's AL East Round-Up: June 3rd "Addition"
Well, what a week. From more Red Sox hitters achieving feats of amazement to the Blue Jays taking 5 of 6 from division rivals, with a big 4-gamer against Baltimore looming a week from today, the American League East race is really in full swing. And none of David Price, Chris Archer, Marcus Stroman are their team's most reliable starter two months into the season. Lots to get to! But before we start, I just wanted to let you know that I'm always happy to get your feedback on this feature.
Brady's AL East Round-Up: May 27th
We're almost two months into the season, and the Blue Jays are still spinning their wheels as they try to recapture the American League East title that they won in such spectacular fashion down the stretch last year. But what of the clubs they're competing with? To find out, we have Greg Brady to take us on a spin through the rest of the division... The Week That Was: 2-1 vs. Cleveland, 2-1 vs. Colorado Next 3 Series: 3 games at Toronto, 4 games at Baltimore, 3 games vs.
Brady's AL East Round-Up: May 20th
Over six weeks into the season, and the Blue Jays are still spinning their wheels as they try to recapture the American League East title that they won in such spectacular fashion down the stretch last year. But what of the clubs they're competing with? To find out, we're thrilled to have Greg Brady on board to take us on a spin through the rest of the division (with a little help from some classic logos)... The Week That Was: 2-2 in 4 game series in Detroit, 1-2 in 3 game series vs.
