A prealbumin-containing TyG–FPR–AISI composite for clinically significant early sepsis-associated acute kidney injury: a single-center derivation cohort study with internal validation
Abstract Background: Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) is heterogeneous in severity and biological drivers. Early identification of clinically significant SA-AKI remains challenging because conventional severity markers and kidney-function criteria do not fully capture metabolic stress, inflammatory-coagulopathy burden, and host-reserve/catabolic-inflammatory status.

Bi-analyte demonstration of non-resonant, single-molecule SERS with isolated lithographic enhancement structures
Abstract Single molecule Raman spectroscopy using isolated, circular ~ 110 nm diameter, multilayer insulator-metal-insulator-metal (MIM+) disk enhancement structures fabricated with 355 nm interferometric lithography in a 2D 400 nm period array is reported. Adenine and cytosine are selected as a bi-analyte pair, with comparable strength Raman lines arising from ring breathing modes in close proximity (A: 743 cm-1 shift and C: 807 cm-1 shift).
Rewiring energy flow in biohybrids for enhanced solar-driven biosynthesis
Abstract Semiconductor biohybrids offer a viable approach to harness solar energy for the biosynthesis of high-value energy-rich long-chain compounds (ERLCCs). However, solar-driven ERLCC biosynthesis routes are often hindered by the inefficient conversion of light energy into cytosolic cofactors. Here we present a design strategy to rewire energy flow in biohybrids, enabling efficient solar-to-ERLCC conversion.

Cation-self-shielding strategy promises high-voltage all-Prussian-blue-based aqueous K-ion batteries - Nature Communications
Abstract Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) are promising electrode candidates for aqueous batteries because the inevitable interstitial water is generally thought to have little impact on battery performance. Currently, mounting researches have focused on optimizing PBA properties by varying transition metal composition, but less attention has been paid to interstitial water, especially in alkali metal-ion deficient PBAs with large cavities.
Near-infrared light-emitting diode based on graphene/layered γ-InSe Schottky junction
The on-chip near-infrared (NIR) light source devices based on van der Waals (vdW) layered materials are increasingly sought after due to their broad applications, including optoelectronic communication, computing, and sensing. The accomplishment of the electrical injection of electrons and holes is highly attractive as a step toward the realization of electrically driven NIR lasers for communication systems. Here, we demonstrated a NIR light-emitting diode (LED) device based on γ-InSe microflakes.

Identification and Assessment of lncRNAs and mRNAs in PM2.5-Induced Hepatic Steatosis
1. Introduction Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) encompasses non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL), nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and progressive fibrosis leading to cirrhosis [1]. It is the predominant chronic liver disease and represents the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome. NAFLD can progressively advance to extrahepatic cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cirrhosis, or cardiovascular disease, thereby raising both all-cause and cause-specific mortality rates [2].

Understanding the epidemiology and pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis with non-redundant pangenome and population genetics
Abstract Tuberculosis is a major public health threat demanding more than one million lives every year. Many challenges exist to defeat this deadly infectious disease which address the importance of a thorough understanding of the biology of the causative agent Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). We generated a non-redundant pangenome of 420 epidemic MTB strains from China. We estimate that MTB strains have a pangenome of 4,278 genes encoding 4,183 proteins, of which 3,438 of which are core genes.

Hepatocyte FBXW7-dependent activity of nutrient-sensing nuclear receptors controls systemic energy homeostasis and NASH progression in male mice - Nature Communications
Abstract Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is epidemiologically associated with obesity and diabetes and can lead to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma if left untreated. The intricate signaling pathways that orchestrate hepatocyte energy metabolism and cellular stress, intrahepatic cell crosstalk, as well as interplay between peripheral tissues remain elusive and are crucial for the development of anti-NASH therapies.

Ranking age-specific modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease and mortality: evidence from a population-based longitudinal study
Summary Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a paramount contemporary health challenge. This study examined age-specific effects of 14 risk factors on CVD and mortality in different age groups. We analyzed data from 226,759 CVD-free participants aged 40 years and older in the UK Biobank during the period from baseline time (2006–2010) to September 30, 2021. The primary CVD outcome was a composite of incident coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke.
Beneficial Effects of Dietary Flaxseed Oil through Inflammation Pathways and Gut Microbiota in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Mice
1. Introduction Type 1 diabetes is characterized by deficient insulin production mediated by immunity that could occur at any age. By 2017, 9 million people had been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and most of them were in high-income countries [1]. The incidence of type 1 diabetes has increased by 3%–4% over the past three decades and is closely associated with environmental factors such as childhood obesity, vitamin D, n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, and dietary sugars [2].

Molecular characterization of MET fusions from a large real‐world Chinese population: A multicenter study
RESEARCH ARTICLE Hui Xia and Junhua Zhang contributed equally to this work. Abstract Purpose MET is a notable driver gene in the diversity of aberrations with clinical relevance, including exon 14 skipping, copy number gain, point mutations, and gene fusions. Compared with the former two, MET fusions are severely under-reported, leaving a series of unanswered questions. In this study, we addressed this gap by characterizing MET fusions in a large, real-world Chinese cancer population.

Unraveling the Roles of MW/UV/TiO2 Photocatalysis Technologies for Organic Wastewater Treatment
2.5. Factors Affecting the Photocatalytic Efficiency of MW/UV/TiO2. 2.5.1. Pollutant Concentration The initial concentration of pollutants is a parameter to be considered in the MW/UV/TiO2 photocatalytic treatment of organic wastewater. The target pollutants and their intermediates can be adsorbed on the surface of the TiO2 and occupy the position of reaction activity, thus affecting the removal effect [117]. Normally, the removal efficiency decreases as the concentration increases.
