Positively Charged Hollow Fiber Nanofiltration Membrane With an SPSf/PEI Bilayer Prepared via Dip-Coating
1 Introduction Membrane separation is an efficient, low-energy consumption, and environmentally friendly technology that has attracted considerable interest in water purification and resource recovery [1]. Among various membrane processes, nanofiltration (NF) typically exhibits low retention of monovalent salts but high retention of multivalent ions and organic molecules due to the synergistic effects of the Donnan exclusion and size sieving [2-4].

Serotonin neurons in the dorsal raphe control food-craving-like behavior during pregnancy in mice
Abstract During pregnancy, physiological changes can alter food intake behaviors. However, the underlying neural mechanisms remain unclear. Here we show that female mice exhibit food-craving-like behavior during pregnancy, mirroring many patterns described in humans. We show that 5-HTDRN neuronal firing activity is reduced during pregnancy through increased small-conductance calcium-activated potassium type 3 (SK3) ion-channel activity.

Embedding FeOOH/g-C 3 N 4 Heterojunctions Into Polyamide Layers for Photocatalytic Self-Cleaning Nanofiltration Membranes
1 Introduction To address the global water crisis, membrane separation technologies have attracted broad interest in the field of wastewater treatment. Nanofiltration (NF), which relies on the size exclusion and electrostatic effects, represents an emerging technology for wastewater treatment and boasts key advantages of its high treatment efficacy, low energy consumption, and straightforward operation in removing organic dyes [1, 2], salts [3, 4], and micropollutants [5, 6].

Survival of lung cancer patients with central nervous system metastases: from clinical trials to mouse models
Background: Central nervous system (CNS) metastasis is common in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and is associated with poor prognosis. Evidence guiding optimal clinical management remains limited, and comprehensive studies on animal models that recapitulate different CNS metastatic patterns are lacking. Methods: A total of 316 NSCLC patients with CNS metastases were retrospectively enrolled between May 2019 and February 2024.
Extended Double Plasma Molecular Adsorption Sessions and Bilirubin Clearance: A Case Report
1 Introduction Acute-on-chronic liver failure is characterized by an acute and severe deterioration of liver function in a patient who typically has a history of chronic liver disease. This condition is a major concern for clinical physicians due to its high 28-day mortality rates [1, 2]. The nonbiological artificial liver is capable of removing toxic substances and improving the internal environment, thereby temporarily substituting for liver function.

Electrolysis with built-in seawater desalination by porous-solid-electrolyte reactor - Nature Sustainability
Abstract The deployment of green hydrogen in the global transition towards sustainable energy systems relies heavily on cost-effective renewables. Regions rich in renewable energy are usually along a seashore, although the direct electrolysis of seawater is still technically challenging. Moreover, the scarcity of freshwater poses significant costs for hydrogen production. Here we describe an electrolysis process with built-in seawater desalination in a porous-solid-electrolyte reactor.

Frontiers | Jinghuaweikang capsule alleviates Helicobacter pylori-infected gastric mucosal inflammation and drug resistance by regulating intestinal microbiota and MAPK pathway
Introduction Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a prominent gut microbe, is among the most extensively studied bacteria. The global prevalence of H. pylori infection is estimated to be 48.5%, and approximately 55.8% of the population in China is affected by this infection (Hooi et al., 2017). Eradicating H. pylori can mitigate gastric mucosal inflammation and decrease the risk of developing gastric cancer (Helicobacter pylori Group CSoG and Zhou, 2022).
