Abstract The autophagy-lysosome system directs the degradation of a wide variety of cytoplasmic cargo such as damaged organelles, protein aggregates, and invading pathogens. The autophagy receptor IRGQ harbors two distinct LIR domains, with LIR1 exhibiting high selectivity for GABARAPL2.
