OPINION: Visitor applauds Portland's pleasant, welcoming atmosphere
This is a classic photo I took at the EL (Eectric Light Orchestra) concert the other night (Aug. 30, at the Moda Center.) I came up from Mount Shasta and stayed at the Jupiter Hotel on East Burnside Street. I have to mention, I didn’t see homeless everywhere. The city was a peaceful oasis in the trees that gave me a feeling that I was always in a town. I love Portland. Thank you. Actor Jack Trout of Mount Shasta, Calif.

The Fundamentals Of Brand Positioning
Brand positioning is a crucial marketing strategy that aims to create a distinct place for a product or service in the minds of consumers. The Law Of Leadership
It’s better to be first than it is to be better. Many people believe that the basic issue in marketing is convincing prospects that you have a better product or service. Not true. If you have a small market share and you have to do battle with larger, better-financed competitors, then your marketing strategy was probably faulty in the first place. You violated the first law of marketing. The basic issue in marketing is creating a category you can be first in.

Why Simplicity Is the Key to a Great Customer Experience
The science behind why brands with the simplest CX are the most successful Photo: Dong Wenjie/Getty Images “In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.” — Henry Wadsworth Longfellow In my marketing career, there’s one thing I’ve learned: There’s very rarely a silver bullet in business. Success comes from a combination of factors. Operations, marketing, customer service, order fulfillment, brand, and market conditions all contribute to the bottom line.
Los Angeles Will Name The Intersection Of Crenshaw & Slauson Nipsey Hussle Square
Today (April 9), a little over a week after the death of artist and activist Nipsey Hussle, Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson has announced that the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and West Slauson Avenue in South L.A. will be named after slain rapper Nipsey Hussle. The area is home to Hussle’s The Marathon store, which embodied his dream of being self-made and giving back, and is also the location where he was killed.

What is Simplicity Theory? Why people prefer simple experiences
There’s very rarely a silver bullet in business. Success comes from a combination of factors. But there’s one thing that the most-loved customer experiences all seem to share — simplicity. Simplicity inexperience makes a proven impact The Simplicity Index, created by Siegel+Gale, is a yearly ranking of brands with the least complicated experiences.
13 Books That Have Changed The Way
These 13 books have each changed my life and my business, and they’ll do the same for you. For a few advertisements, maybe, but for the most, not at all. In fact often you find yourself asking what are they advertising?

Marketing Warfare Revisited
Marketing is war my friends. By now most of you have figured that out. And most of you are familiar with Marketing Warfare, a book I wrote with my former partner Al Ries on the strategy and tactics that can and should be implemented on the front lines of marketing. With help from Prussian General Karl von Clausewitz we concluded many things about the battlefield marketers face.
Repositioning The Competition
This is a post about a very powerful marketing strategy that has fallen into disuse. Why? I have no idea, unless it’s about creative people thinking that it’s not creative. It’s called “repositioning the competition” and I, along with my ex-partner Al Ries, wrote about it in a book called, Positioning: The Battle For Your Mind. In simple terms, to move a new idea or product into the mind, you must first move an old one out. “The world is round,” said Christopher Columbus.
