Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

I worked as a campus politics reporter for Trojan Vision, the University of Southern California's student television station.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! My parents told me my handwriting was so bad that "Santa Claus" couldn't read my wish list. So I got a typewriter to type my letter.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means knocking on the doors that don't want to open, and asking the questions your readers can't or don't want to ask.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

The audio recording apps on iPhone and Android smartphones are great ways to record interviews. Evernote is the best overall research app.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Exposing the underhanded dealings of the REITs that own our local commercial complexes, which had destroyed several local businesses.
