Strange but true: Mets broadcaster once called game from gondola high above the Astrodome Original

HOUSTON — The Astrodome has hosted everything from baseball and football to concerts and rodeos, but one of its strangest moments came during a Mets-Astros game in 1965 when broadcaster Lindsey Nelson called the action from a gondola suspended high above the field. The unusual broadcast took place April 28, 1965, less than a month after the Astrodome opened.

HOUSTON — The Houston Comets are officially returning to the WNBA, nearly two decades after the franchise folded, with Rockets ownership saying restoring the Comets name and legacy was just as important as bringing women’s professional basketball back to Houston. The WNBA on Wednesday approved the sale and relocation of the Connecticut Sun to Houston, where the team will begin play as the Comets next season.

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans' 2026 schedule drops Thursday night and one big road trip is already locked in with the team's journey across the pond to face the Jaguars in London. But how far will the Texans be traveling over the course of the season? KHOU 11's Jason Bristol broke it down. The team's trip to London on October 18 alone accounts for 9,683 miles, according to bookies.com.
