Technology-Enabled Hospital Discharge: Consolidated Framework of Implementation Research-Informed Qualitative Study of Stakeholder Perspectives on Digital Solutions
Abstract Hospital discharge is a complex, time-consuming process that requires coordination across multiple stakeholders. Technology-enabled solutions may improve this process, but their implementation depends on alignment with user needs, workflows, and care contexts. We explored stakeholder perspectives on six candidate digital solutions for hospital discharge as part of a wider service improvement project.
A systematic review of the impacts of remote patient monitoring (RPM) interventions on safety, adherence, quality-of-life and cost-related outcomes - npj Digital Medicine
Abstract Due to rapid technological advancements, remote patient monitoring (RPM) technology has gained traction in recent years. While the effects of specific RPM interventions are known, few published reviews examine RPM in the context of care transitions from an inpatient hospital setting to a home environment.
Through the lens: A qualitative exploration of nurses' experiences of smart glasses in urgent care
A real-world evaluation of smart glasses enabled triage in the urgent care setting. Data on the benefits, perceived barriers and enablers of smart glass-enabled triage in the urgent care setting, which can inform the implementation of this technology in other institutions and contexts.
Effects of genetically predicted posttraumatic stress disorder on autoimmune phenotypes - Translational Psychiatry
Abstract Observational studies suggest that posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) increases risk for various autoimmune diseases. Insights into shared biology and causal relationships between these diseases may inform intervention approaches to PTSD and co-morbid autoimmune conditions. We investigated the shared genetic contributions and causal relationships between PTSD, 18 autoimmune diseases, and 3 immune/inflammatory biomarkers.
A physicochemical-sensing electronic skin for stress response monitoring - Nature Electronics
Abstract Approaches to quantify stress responses typically rely on subjective surveys and questionnaires. Wearable sensors can potentially be used to continuously monitor stress-relevant biomarkers. However, the biological stress response is spread across the nervous, endocrine and immune systems, and the capabilities of current sensors are not sufficient for condition-specific stress response evaluation.
Couple-Level Manifestations of Posttraumatic Stress and Maternal and Paternal Postpartum Relationship Functioning
Objective. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is linked with impaired intimate relationships in postpartum women, yet less is known about couple-level manifestations of posttraumatic psychopathology and potential associations with relationship functioning for mothers and fathers during this critical time. Method.

Psychological and biological mechanisms linking trauma with cardiovascular disease risk - Translational Psychiatry
Abstract Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and experiences of psychological trauma have been associated with subsequent CVD onset. Identifying key pathways connecting trauma with CVD has the potential to inform more targeted screening and intervention efforts to offset elevated cardiovascular risk. In this narrative review, we summarize the evidence for key psychological and biological mechanisms linking experiences of trauma with CVD risk.
Skin Conductance Reactivity as a Predictor of Stroke-Induced Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms: A Dimensional Approach
Background. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms can develop following acute, life-threatening medical events. This study explores a potential biomarker of PTSD risk that is novel to a medical trauma population: a noninvasive, mobile skin conductance (SC) measurement. Methods. Participants () were enrolled inhospital following a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Canadian Food Studies / La Revue canadienne des études sur l'alimentation
Guest editors, Jennifer Sumner and Ellen Desjardins, in collaboration with Canadian Food Studies / Le Revue Canadienne des études sur l’alimentation, are pleased to present Critical Food Guidance: a focal point for thinking about food system change. This themed section asks three basic questions: critical guidance for what, for whom, and by whom?
Advances in respiratory protective equipment: Practical experiences of CleanSpace® HALO™ by healthcare workers
Abstract Background Personal protective equipment (PPE) offers protection from infections and hazardous materials. Advances in technology have seen rapid improvement of respiratory PPEs but real-world evaluations are needed to understand whether newer devices offer greater usability and overcome common barriers to correct use. We surveyed the user experiences of a new PPE device, CleanSpace® HALO™, in comparison to existing masks and respirators to determine advantages and disadvantages.

Cardiac rehabilitation guidelines informing Universal Health Coverage
In 1948 the World Health Organization (WHO) declared health a fundamental human right.1 Actualising this right, United Nation member states have agreed to achieve ‘Universal Health Coverage (UHC)’ by 2030. UHC aims to overcome poverty due to healthcare costs and make essential services accessible to all.
Savannah Seafood Stuffing Recipe
21 Recipe by: TIANA1T "This is a seafood stuffing that has been in my family for a while. We have never actually stuffed the bird with this to avoid the turkey having a 'fishy' taste. We tend to like our dressing very moist, but if you prefer a drier stuffing, only use half of the broth." The effectiveness of modern cardiac rehabilitation: A systematic review of recent observational studies in non-attenders versus attenders
The beneficial effects of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) have been challenged in recent years and there is now a need to investigate whether current CR programmes, delivered in the context of modern cardiology, still benefit patients. A systematic review of non-randomised controlled studies was conducted. Electronic searches of Medline, Embase, CINAHL, science citation index (web of science), CIRRIE and Open Grey were undertaken.

Predictors of Cardiac Rehabilitation Utilization in England: Results From the National Audit
Background Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is grossly underused, with major inequities in access. However, use of CR and predictors of initiation in England where CR contracting is available is unknown. The aims were (1) to investigate CR utilization rates in England, and (2) to determine sociodemographic and clinical factors associated with CR initiation including social deprivation. Methods and Results Data from the National Audit of CR, between January 2012 and November 2015, were used.
Effects of Concurrent Depressive Symptoms and Perceived Stress on Cardiovascular Risk in Low‐ and High‐Income Participants: Findings From the Reasons for Geographical and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) Study
Background Psychosocial risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) may be especially deleterious in persons with low socioeconomic status. Most work has focused on psychosocial factors individually, but emerging research suggests that the confluence of psychosocial risk may be particularly harmful.

This is an open access article under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution‐NonCommercial License, which permits use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited and is not used for commercial purposes. Background Trauma exposure and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have been linked to myocardial infarction and stroke in women, with biological and behavioral mechanisms implicated in underlying risk.
Denmark doesn’t treat its prisoners like prisoners — and it’s good for everyone
The most interesting thing about Scandinavian prisons? Many are barely prisons at all. Our research team spent six weeks conducting intensive research in Danish prisons. We were struck by the sight of prisoners wearing their own clothes, cooking their own meals and having private family visits as often as once a week. At these “open” prisons, there are no barbed wire fences, solid walls with gun towers or secure perimeters.
