Amid Pressing Economic Crises, Biden Administration Must Lift Tariffs
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. The COVID-19 pandemic created problems for businesses across America unlike anything they had experienced before. Overnight, they had to adjust to capacity limits, distancing rules, and, in some cases, had to close entirely for weeks or even months on end. Many businesses didn’t get through the worst of it, meaning people throughout the country lost their jobs as a result.
How Old Is My Pet in Dog Years or Cat Years? A Veterinarian Explains
Did anyone check the number of candles on here? Photo from KikoStock / Shutterstock.com. “Just how old do you think my dog is in dog years?” is a question I hear on a regular basis. People love to anthropomorphize pets, attributing human characteristics to them. And most of us want to extend our animal friends’ healthy lives for as long as possible. It may seem like sort of a silly thing to ponder, born out of owners’ love for their pets and the human-animal bond between them.
Attacking Puerto Rico Statehood is the Wrong Approach for Republicans
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. Republicans’ hope of stopping the Democrats' radical agenda lies in the Georgia Senate runoffs that will be decided on January 5th. There is a lot to fear from complete Democratic control of government, like burdensome environmental regulations that cause even more businesses to close their doors, and tax hikes that end up getting passed on to the middle-class and working families.
A Pledge To Repeal Tariffs Is Crucial For Both Candidates
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. As both presidential candidates enter the final stretch towards Election Day, Vice President Biden continues to hold a lead in the polls. In order for President Trump to defy the odds once again, just as he did in 2016, he will have to secure an important demographic of voters: those who rely heavily on trade.
Bipartisan Tobacco 21 Bill Helps Leads to a Decrease in Teen Vaping
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. It seems far too infrequent these days that Republicans and Democrats can come together to pass common sense and successful healthcare policies, but that is exactly what we saw late last year when a federal bill to increase the legal age of purchasing tobacco products from 18 to 21 passed with bipartisan support.
It’s Time to End Surprise Medical Billing
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. As the fall season moves into full swing and temperatures begin to drop, Americans are growing uneasy about the predicted uptick in COVID-19 cases. Coronavirus is likely the most substantial phenomenon of the decade, if not this century, and the impact it has had on America’s health care system will be studied for years to come.
What happens with the 2020 Census will affect the lives of all Americans
ANALYSIS/OPINION: This year is one that will shape our country’s future in more ways than one. All year, we have been contending with a once-in-a-generation public health crisis and in just over one month’s time, voters will make key decisions on what direction our country should take in the years ahead. However, that is not all, as what happens with the 2020 Census will have a direct impact on the lives of all Americans.
Older Voters Could Shape Election, But Fewer Volunteer at Polls
COMMENTARY COMMENTARY When Americans cast their votes Nov. 3, things may look very different from what we have all grown used to. However, despite all the upheaval of the past year, one thing will hold true: voter turnout will play an absolutely critical role in determining not just the next president, but also who will claim dozens of statewide offices. Unfortunately, one of the groups of voters, in particular, is at risk of being unable to vote safely in person this year.
Dems Unfairly Criticize Trump's COVID Response for Political Points
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. The Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic will be debated, analyzed, and investigated for decades. It’s also unlikely the critique of President Trump and his administration is fair, given the already highly politicized coverage in most media outlets.
From the Economy to Protests, Garcetti Lets Chaos Reign in L.A.
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. This has been a year of considerable unrest across the United States. The ongoing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, an unprecedented shutdown of economic activity, and widespread protests have created chaos for months on end, even more so when considering this is all happening during an election year.
While Well-Intended, New Bill Creates Unnecessary Rules for Ridesharing Companies
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. Too often, Congress is quick to push through new regulations on private businesses without first taking a step back and asking what the long-term implications of these policies are.

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. The new Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who has an extensive background in logistics and operations, recently detailed new changes that will cut costs to help keep the United States Postal Service (USPS) viable. As a result, this has revived Congress’s interest in postal reform.

CMS Medicare Advantage Change Overlooks Dialysis Patients
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. This year has posed a variety of dangerous new challenges for Americans. Many have lost their jobs as states grapple with the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with worries about stable employment often come worries about healthcare. We are at a moment where we can ill afford to limit Americans’ access to critical care services.
Administration Right to Go After Surprise Medical Bills Without Enabling Government Rate-Setting
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. The past several months have put a serious strain on Americans from all walks of life. The spread of COVID-19 across the U.S. has caused both an unprecedented health emergency and an economic crisis. Unfortunately, some of those who have the most to lose from all of this are the very same people who are working hard to get the situation under control: medical workers.
One Big Way To Help US Businesses Come Back After Coronavirus
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. With 36.5 million Americans out of work as a result of the pandemic, it is difficult to see any light at the end of the tunnel. And as businesses begin reopening under their states’ guidelines, President Trump’s tariffs stand as a major barrier preventing farming, manufacturing, retail, and other small business sectors from fully standing on their own two feet.
How Congress Can Help Cargo Carriers Deliver Essential Goods During Pandemic and Beyond
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. Americans have adjusted their lifestyle to prevent the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 outbreak by relying on online ordering and delivery services. The rapid growth in e-commerce required U.S. cargo carriers to transport an influx of essential and non-essential goods quickly and efficiently to customers.
Big Insurance Is Making Sure Another Crisis Doesn’t Go To Waste
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. Doctors and nurses are working around-the-clock, putting their own health on the line, to treat sick patients, and to help stop the spread of COVID-19. After each long, grueling shift, they can’t even find solace with their families at home. No hugs with their children, as they have to isolate themselves to prevent spreading the virus to their loved ones.
To Prevent Panic Buying, Preserve the Food and Essential Goods Supply Chains
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. Shoppers across the country are going into stores and seeing empty shelves and long lines as Americans prepare to quarantine themselves for an unknown period of time to prevent the spread of COVID-19. For some, this means stocking up on essential household goods and non-perishable food as we all begin to socially distance ourselves from one another.
How Congress Can Rein in Big Insurance
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. President Trump has made ending surprise medical bills a priority for his administration. During a White House speech last year, the president said that the Republican Party not only has become the party of healthcare, but that it is “determined to end surprise medical billing for American patients.” It’s an issue that has impacted millions, driving many to file for bankruptcy.

The initiative, more commonly known as ‘Tobacco 21,’ has received broad bipartisan support.

How old is my pet in dog years or cat years? A veterinarian explains - The Associated Press
By Jesse Grady / Mississippi State University “JUST how old do you think my dog is in dog years?” is a question I hear on a regular basis. People love to anthropomorphize pets, attributing human characteristics to them. And most of us want to extend our animal friends’ healthy lives for as long as possible. It may seem like sort of a silly thing to ponder, born out of owners’ love for their pets and the human-animal bond between them.
Congress Should Steer Clear of Ridesharing Regulations
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. The ridesharing industry offers a flexible service that millions of Americans use every day. It’s a convenient, inclusive, cost-efficient, and safe system for both users and drivers. But it’s also on the verge of being burdened with government regulations and unintended consequences that could hinder rideshare companies' ability to operate effectively.
It’s Time to Hold Big Pharma Accountable
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. One of the toughest battles for Republicans to save the Senate in 2020 will be happening in Arizona as Senator Martha McSally (R-AZ) fights to win reelection. So it’s no surprise to me that every time I turn around, I read another article about Senator McSally talking about health care and prescription drug prices. Just last week she was meeting with pharmacy staff in Phoenix.

Washington Should Fight Teen Smoking at the Source
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. The GOP Is On The Cusp of a Health Care Win - They Better Get It Right
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. Several months ago, though the media barely covered it, President Trump held an event in the White House to draw attention to the problem of surprise medical billing. He invited several victims of the practice to tell their stories. One man, Drew, told of how he had suffered a heart attack two years ago and been driven to the nearest hospital.
Billionaires Are Behind Efforts to Slow America’s Energy Infrastructure
Summer travel season is officially underway. For many Americans that means road trips in the car or heading to the nearest airport to catch a flight. According to AAA, nearly 50 million Americans had plans to travel for Independence Day, and with several weeks until Labor Day the number of travelers is likely to remain high.
Tax Dollars for Progressive Activists? Just Another Day in California
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. The 2020 election is coming, and while the presidential election is getting most of the media attention, voters across the nation will be picking their leaders down the ballot as well. The Democratic Party continues lurching to the left, proposing more big government spending and taxes every day.
A Quick End to the Trade War is the Key to Victory for President Trump in 2020
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. “My style of deal-making is quite simple and straightforward. I aim very high, and then I just keep pushing and pushing and pushing to get what I’m after.” Donald Trump wrote these words in his 1987 bestseller The Art of the Deal, and 32 years later, he’s proved the wisdom of this strategy in the success he has had so far in office.
Texas companies say they support LGBT rights. So where are they on the Equality Act? [Opinion]
For many years now in our country, and especially in the last two decades, LGBTQ rights have become a flashpoint in the national conversation. The discussion has become so mainstream that even corporate America has taken notice.
California’s Purple Line Subway Serves as Another Example of Government Spending Gone Wrong
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. It’s no secret that America’s fiscal health is under serious stress. In February of this year, our national debt hit a record $22 trillion. If nothing changes, the Congressional Budget Office projects that as a share of the national economy, our debt will be 93 percent of GDP by 2023. That should set off alarm bells for everyone in America.
Prioritizing Alternatives to Eliminate the Trade Deficit
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. Fixing our bad international trade agreements was a cornerstone of President Trump’s campaign for the presidency in 2016. And so far, it’s a promise he’s kept. He’s renegotiated NAFTA to create a fairer agreement that helps American workers. He got rid of the terrible Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.

Reduce Teenage Vaping Through Enforcement, Not New Regulations
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. As a former Trump campaign staffer, I appreciate the president’s successful deregulation achievements across the federal government. In fact, Neomi Rao who is the administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, recently estimated that the Trump administration’s deregulation efforts are saving taxpayers billions.
President Trump’s Leadership on Open Skies Has Paid off for American Travelers
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. In 1987, then-real estate mogul Donald Trump laid out the strategies and wisdom that built him one of America’s largest real estate empires in his book The Art of the Deal. Now, as President of the United States, Donald Trump has been using those same tactics to deliver real results for the American people, and it’s time he gets some credit for his work.
The Time is Now to Fix Joint Employer Rule
The joint employer rule is an infuriating issue to write about because the issue ought to be SO cut-and-dry. The previous rule existed for a very long time and was easy for everyone to understand. If you worked at a McDonald’s, you didn’t work FOR McDonald’s, you worked for the owner of that store who bought the franchise rights from McDonald’s. If something went wrong, you filed a complaint or a lawsuit against the owner of that store. The guy who signed your paychecks. Your actual boss.
DeFazio Does the Airlines’ Dirty Work
In the next Congress, Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) will chair the House transportation committee. From the looks of it, that will be horrible news for international travelers. In an absurd interview with the Financial Times recently, DeFazio made an issue of Qatar Airways’ 49 percent stake in Air Italy. “Their intention,” he alleged, “is to take over international aviation.

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. Last year, when President Trump signed a memorandum to redirect $200 million in federal education funding towards increasing technical and STEM education for K-12 students, it highlighted the growing consensus among lawmakers that practical, marketable skills need to be a greater priority in our education system. New Regulations Could Give Progressives Free Reign to Control the Internet
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Entrepreneurs in the free market develop innovations that benefit consumers, only to have their efforts stopped by big-government regulators. It’s happened to countless major industries, and now progressive government regulators have their sights set on the internet.

Make America’s Highways Great Again
It’s hard to believe today, but relatively speaking, “e-commerce” is still in its infancy. Despite the rapid growth over the last decade, online retail sales still represent less than ten percent of all retail sales in the U.S. And not surprising, but that growth will continue. Retail sales of physical goods are projected to rise from $360 billion in 2016 to over $600 billion by 2021.
