Submitted: 26 October 2026 You are already at the latest version Foundation models (FMs), particularly large language models (LLMs) and vision-language models (VLMs), are increasingly used as the decision-making core of AI agents and are now being extended from digital environments to robotic systems.
Self-Responsive Plastron Maintenance on a Superhydrophobic Mesh via Locally Integrated Electrolysis
1 Introduction The interfacial gas layer (plastron) retained at the solid–liquid interface is the key carrier for the unique functions of underwater superhydrophobic surfaces [1-6]. In drag reduction, the plastron can reduce interfacial friction via slip effects, thereby lowering energy consumption in ships and pipelines [7-11].

Size Effects on the Three-Point Bending and Energy Absorption Performance of Pseudo-Ductile Carbon/Glass Fiber Hybrid Laminates
Size effects on the bending performance of C/G laminates were studied. Thinner C/G laminates exhibit superior flexural strength and SEA. The increased thickness exacerbates delamination propagation. Distribution of shear damage was observed by the numerical model. 1 Introduction The frontier fields place stringent demands on engineering structures for lightweight design, high specific strength, and multi-functional load-bearing capabilities.
International trade reduces emissions through technology transfer led by key emitters
Abstract The Paris Agreement highlights technology transfer for climate mitigation, yet the disparities in technology ownership and diffusion slow global decarbonization. While trade agreements serve as institutional pathways for technological diffusion, the decarbonization potential of patent transfers remains unassessed.
Research on Rice Milling Degree Detection and Classification With Developed YOLOv8n-FGLW
1 Introduction Rice is a major staple crop worldwide and holds a strategic position in ensuring food security and promoting socioeconomic development (Sun et al. 2024; Yang et al. 2025). During rice processing, paddy rice must undergo key operations such as dehusking and milling, among which milling is the core regulatory step determining rice appearance quality, nutritional retention, and broken rice rate (Devi et al. 2025).
Preoperative Metabolic Predictors of Granulation Subtypes in Somatotroph Tumors: A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study
1 Introduction Pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNETs) are common tumors in the sellar region and are typically classified as functioning and nonfunctioning tumors based on hormone secretion [1]. Somatotroph tumors, a subtype of functioning PitNETs, are the leading cause of acromegaly in adults and gigantism in children [1, 2].

Association between dietary inflammation index and malnutrition status in peritoneal dialysis patients: a cross-sectional study
1 Introduction The incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is increasing due to the aging population and the increasing incidence of hypertension and diabetes mellitus globally every year (1–3). By 2020, there will be more than 697 million CKD patients globally (4). Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is one of the important treatments for end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). Although the prevalence of PD varies from country to country, PD patients account for approximately 11% of all dialysis patients (5).
Characterization and Comparison of Milk Fat Globule Membrane Proteins, Whey Protein Concentrate, and Micellar Casein Concentrate
1 Introduction The milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) is a complex trilaminar phospholipoprotein layer surrounding milk fat globules and mainly consists of polar lipids and MFGM proteins (Yao et al. 2024). MFGM proteins account for approximately 25%–70% of the membrane mass and about 1% of total milk proteins, with more than 600 distinct proteins identified to date (Sun et al. 2024).
An engineered UGA suppressor tRNA gene for disease-agnostic AAV delivery - Nature Biotechnology
Abstract Suppressor transfer RNAs (sup-tRNAs) have the potential to rescue nonsense mutations in a disease-agnostic manner and are an alternative therapeutic approach for many rare and ultrarare disorders. Among all human pathogenic nonsense variants, approximately 20% arise from C-to-T transitions that convert the CGA arginine codon into a UGA stop codon.
Wafer Scale III‐Nitride Deep‐Ultraviolet Vertical‐Cavity Surface‐Emitting Lasers Featuring Nanometer‐Class Control of Cavity Length
1 Introduction Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) have attracted much attention owing to their advantages of circular far field distribution, single longitudinal mode emission, and 2D integration capability, leading to a rapidly growing billion-dollar market in data communication, sensing, and display [1-3].
Enhancing Emotion Management in Construction Projects: Multimodal Research on the Impact Mechanisms of Typical Stimuli
Practical Applications Employees’ emotional states are closely related to their mental health and project safety performance. This study, starting from three key factors influencing project management performance, including finance, process, and leadership, found timely salary payment (finance) and project accident occurrence (process) respectively most strongly induce positive and negative emotions, while cognitive load and ERA have mediating and moderating effects, respectively.
Skeletal muscle-derived IL-33 mediates muscle-to-bone crosstalk and regulates bone metabolism via CD8+ T cell-secreted CCL5
Keywords IL-33 CCL5 Muscle-to-bone crosstalk Osteokines Osteoporosis Evidence before this study Previous work had established that sarcopenia and osteoporosis frequently co-exist in older adults. Low muscle mass and/or strength are associated with low bone mineral density and fracture risk, suggesting the existence of bidirectional muscle–bone crosstalk. Multiple muscle-derived factors (myokines) such as IL-6, irisin, IGF-1, and myostatin have been implicated in this dialogue.

Estimation of Appendicular Skeletal Muscle Mass in Studies Based on CHARLS May Cause Unreliable Conclusion
We write to highlight a potential issue in the estimation of appendicular skeletal muscle mass (ASM) in studies based on the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). In recent years, numerous studies based on the CHARLS database have been published, with a significant number focusing on sarcopenia. A PubMed search reveals that over 94 sarcopenia-related articles based on CHARLS data have been published to date, with the majority appearing in the past 3 years.

Microwave Photon Detection at Parametric Criticality
Popular Summary Measurement is the key link between the realm of quantum phenomena and the classical world. The detection of microwave fields at single-photon levels is challenging because of the low energies involved—5 orders of magnitude smaller than for visible-light photons. A successful proof of concept of efficient microwave photon detection can unlock a range of practical applications in nanoelectronics and quantum information science.

1. Introduction As technological progress continues, satellite capabilities are progressively evolving to address the escalating requirements of space missions [1,2]. Notably, the advent of satellite formation flying technology has inaugurated novel opportunities for deploying small satellites [3]. This technology, known as Satellite Formation Flying (SFF), involves the precise coordination of multiple satellites operating in a defined arrangement.
Self-Driven Gas Spreading on Mesh Surfaces for Regeneration of Underwater Superhydrophobicity
Underwater superhydrophobic surfaces stand as a promising frontier in technological applications such as drag reduction, antifouling, and anticorrosion. Unfortunately, the air film, known as the plastron, on these surfaces tends to be unstable. To address this problem, active approaches have been designed to preserve or restore plastrons. In this work, a self-driven gas spreading superhydrophobic mesh (SHM) surface is designed to facilitate recovery of the plastron.

The tumor niche can reprogram long-lived protumorigenic neutrophils
The heterogeneity and plasticity of neutrophils in tumor–host interactions and how tumor signals induce reprogramming of neutrophil subpopulations need further investigation. Ng et al. recently reported that a hypoxic-glycolytic niche in mouse tumors could reprogram mature and immature neutrophils into a long-lived and terminally-differentiated subset, which promoted angiogenesis and tumor growth.
