Sodium alginate and collagen-loaded troxerutin improve mineralization and vascularization around implants
Abstract Mineralization and vascularization are essential processes for implant osseointegration around titanium, and insufficient surface bioactivity affects its clinical performance; thus, surface modification of implants is necessary. This study aimed to establish a sodium alginate/collagen/troxerutin coating on the surface of titanium to promote angiogenic and osteogenic ability. The results indicate that the material has satisfactory biocompatibility in terms of cell viability.
PFKM acts as a metabolic switch initiating donut-shaped mitochondrial remodeling to promote osteogenesis
Abstract Osteogenic differentiation requires sophisticated mitochondrial adaptation to meet bioenergetic demands, yet regulatory checkpoints governing this organelle reorganization remain poorly defined. Through single-cell RNA sequencing reanalysis and metabolic intervention, this study unveils a non-canonical signaling role for PFKM, traditionally recognized solely as a glycolytic enzyme, in orchestrating mitochondrial remodeling during bone formation.
Mechanobiological modulation: physiological pressure preconditioning boosts the paracrine-driven lymphangiogenic capacity of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells
Abstract Introduction: Lymphatic system remodeling and regeneration are essential for tissue repair and homeostasis, and these processes are precisely regulated by both biochemical and biomechanical signals in the tissue microenvironment. The mechanobiological mechanisms governing this process remain largely elusive, particularly in oral and maxillofacial tissues which are constantly exposed to complex mechanical forces.
Intestinal stem cells as innate immune sentinels: coupling environmental sensing to epithelial adaptation
Abstract Intestinal stem cells (ISCs) are essential for maintaining epithelial homeostasis and tissue repair. Traditionally considered passive regenerative cells, ISCs are now recognized as active environmental sensing hubs that integrate microbial, immune, metabolic, mechanical, and neural signals from the intestinal microenvironment.
Non-rotational medial pinning with the K-Hammer technique in pediatric supracondylar fractures: a retrospective case-control study
Abstract Background: Pediatric Gartland type III–IV extension-type supracondylar humeral fractures are associated with a risk of iatrogenic ulnar nerve injury during medial percutaneous pin insertion. The optimal technique for medial pin placement during crossed pin fixation remains debated. Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted involving 80 pediatric patients treated between September 2020 and September 2025.

One- and two-dimensional cluster states for topological phase simulation and measurement-based quantum computation
|
Abstract Quantum entanglement is a fundamental resource for quantum information processing and serves as a critical benchmark for quantum hardware performance. Cluster states are a special class of entangled states that serve as universal resources for measurement-based quantum computation and possess an intrinsic symmetry-protected topological order, which confers robustness against symmetry-respecting noise.

SNX6-mediated subunit-specific secretory trafficking of AMPA receptors regulates synaptic function and plasticity - Communications Biology
Abstract The AMPA-type glutamate receptors (AMPARs) mediate the majority of fast excitatory synaptic transmission in the brain and are central to synaptic plasticity in excitatory neurons. Functional AMPARs are tetramers composed of different combinations of the channel-forming GluA1-GluA4 subunits, with GluA2 critically influencing receptor biophysics and trafficking.
Characterization of Novel POLG Mutations in Mitochondrial Encephalomyopathy: Pathogenic Validation and Comprehensive Genetic Profiling
1 Introduction Mitochondrial diseases are hereditary metabolic disorders caused by mutations in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) or nuclear DNA (nDNA), leading to dysfunction of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. These diseases present with a variety of clinical manifestations.
Low-dimensional materials for bioelectronic devices - Nature Reviews Bioengineering
Abstract Bioelectronic devices enable real-time monitoring, diagnosis and treatment by blending biological processes with electronic technology. Through wireless connections, these systems could reduce reliance on hospital visits and offer remote care services to low-resource settings. However, there is a disparity in the biomechanical properties of conventional silicon-based systems and human tissue, which could impair tissue conformability and increase the risk of mechanical failure.

Elucidation of the biosynthetic pathway of hydroxysafflor yellow A - Nature Communications
Abstract Hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA) is a clinical investigational new drug for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. It has a unique quinochalcone di-C-glycoside structure and is exclusively found in the flowers of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius). To date, little is known about the biosynthesis of HSYA. In this work, we characterize four key biosynthetic enzymes from C.

Characterizing the variation in safflower seed viability under different storage conditions through lipidomic and proteomic analyses - Scientific Reports
Abstract The aging of seeds seriously affects their yield. Vacuum and low temperatures have been shown to prolong seed life and delay seed senescence. However, the underlying mechanisms that control these processes in safflower have yet to be explored. Therefore, this study aimed to study the structural, physiological and biochemical changes that occur in safflower seeds stored for one year at different temperatures and sealing conditions.

Security Is Blocking AI Adoption: Is BYOC the Answer?
The landscape of AI adoption has transformed dramatically in the 18 months since ChatGPT’s debut. According to McKinsey’s 2024 Global Survey on AI, organizational AI adoption has surged from 50% to 72%, with half of the surveyed organizations implementing AI across multiple business functions, up from less than a third in 2023. However, this wave of AI adoption presents unique challenges for regulated industries like finance and health care.

This study utilized environmental DNA metabarcoding technology to gather 128 environmental samples of water, soil, and air, along with samples of bird feces and feathers collected during the summer and winter of 2023.
Sustainable Design for the Silver Society: Developing the Silver Model for Gerontechnology Product Innovation
1. Introduction In 2022, a United Nations report highlighted the rapid global growth of the older population, noting that those aged 65 and over are increasing at a faster rate than the population under 65. As a result, the proportion of individuals aged 65 and over is projected to rise from 10 percent in 2022 to 16 percent by 2050. By that time, this demographic is expected to outnumber the population of newborns under the age of five [].

Elasticsearch Was Great, But Vector Databases Are the Future
For decades, keyword matching, also known as full-text search, exemplified by Elasticsearch, has been the default choice for information retrieval systems like enterprise search and recommendation engines. As AI-powered search technologies advance, there is a shift toward semantic search, enabling systems to understand both the meaning and intent behind user queries. Embedding models and vector databases have become central to this shift.
Direct reprogramming of fibroblasts into spiral ganglion neurons by defined transcription factors
1 INTRODUCTION In the cochlea of mammals, spiral ganglion neurons (SGNs) transmit auditory signals to the central circuits responsible for processing sound. SGNs are glutamatergic bipolar sensory neurons, which can be characterized as Type I (90%–95%) and Type II (5%–10%) and with neurites extending towards the bases and sides of the hair cells (HCs) to receive synaptic input. SGNs transmit auditory signals from HCs to the central auditory pathway through the generation of action potentials (APs).
