Phosphate homeostasis and apparent treatment-resistant hypertension in chronic kidney disease: the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) study
Abstract Abnormal phosphate homeostasis is associated with inflammation, vascular calcification, and endothelial dysfunction in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Apparent treatment-resistant hypertension (ATRH) is common in CKD and is associated with increased cardiovascular mortality. We examined the associations between phosphate homeostasis-related biomarkers and ATRH in patients with CKD.

Hysteresis-free and dynamically resilient strain sensor enabled by interfacial coordination
Abstract Mechanical hysteresis in soft materials remains a fundamental barrier to achieving accurate, high-speed strain sensing, especially under large and dynamic deformation. Here, we report a hysteresis-free strain sensor enabled by an interfacial coordination strategy, which integrates intrinsically stretchable dual-network universal bonding materials to establish robust adhesion between hyperelastic and hydrogel-dielectric hybrid systems.
Analysis of tissue lesions and expression of HIF-1α and VEGF in broiler ascites syndrome
Abstract Broiler ascites syndrome (BAS), a hypoxia-driven metabolic disorder, causes significant economic losses in poultry production. This study aimed to evaluate the pathological changes in the lungs and liver of broiler chickens and the expression of HIF-1α and VEGF.
Risk factors for mortality in patients with kidney failure on hemodialysis identified by proteomic analysis of CRIC and PACE studies - Nature Communications
Abstract More than 50% of patients with kidney failure undergoing maintenance hemodialysis die within 5 years, a fate unexplained by traditional risk factors. To identify biological risk factors, we analyze 6287 circulating proteins and mortality in 893 participants undergoing hemodialysis in the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) and Predictors of Arrhythmic and Cardiovascular Risk in End-Stage Renal Disease (PACE) studies.
Next-Generation Spatial Transcriptomic Tools Transform RNA Detection in Degraded Samples
RNA is one of the types of analytes that are sensitive to degradation. Unlike proteins, which can remain for years, the RNA molecule itself has inherent instability and degrades easily, especially because there are high numbers of enzymes in the environment. As a result measurement of RNA is very challenging in archival or clinical samples where RNA is often more degraded.

Blood pressure reduction and all-cause dementia in people with uncontrolled hypertension: an open-label, blinded-endpoint, cluster-randomized trial - Nature Medicine
Abstract Dementia is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Here we tested the effectiveness of blood pressure (BP) reduction on the risk of all-cause dementia among 33,995 individuals aged ≥40 years with uncontrolled hypertension in rural China. We randomly assigned 163 villages to a non-physician community healthcare provider-led intervention and 163 villages to usual care.

Sustainable phosphorescent oscillators based on photochemical deoxygenation in convections
Sustainable phosphorescent oscillators based on photochemical deoxygenation in convections Upon constant photo-excitation, the phosphorescence intensities of long-lived triplet emitters dissolved in sulfoxide solvents under air exhibit periodic oscillations with regulatable frequencies and amplitudes, which is attributed to the interplay between photochemical deoxygenation and Rayleigh-Bénard convections. Tetradentate Carbene-Anilido Boron Complexes: Highly Fluorescent Dyes with Larger Stokes Shifts than BODIPY Analogues
Tetradentate Carbene-Anilido Boron Complexes: Highly Fluorescent Dyes with Larger Stokes Shifts than BODIPY Analogues A new class of carbene-anilido boron complexes has been designed and synthesized. The complexes show intense fluorescence with large Stokes shift because of their charge-transfer excited states, different from typical BODIPY dyes. By using chiral 1,1’-bi(2-naphthol) ligand, dyes exhibiting circularly polarized luminescence can also be facilely developed.
Association of social determinants, lifestyle, and metabolic factors with mortality in Chinese adults: A nationwide 10-year prospective cohort study
Highlights • Cardiovascular disease and cancer account for over 72% of all-cause mortality in China • Modifiable risk factors explain 64.8% of all-cause mortality • Low education emerges as the leading factor for both all-cause and cancer mortality • Hypertension is the predominant factor for cardiovascular mortality Summary Nationwide estimates of the impact of common modifiable risk factors on mortality remain crucial.

Galectin‐9 alleviates acute graft‐versus‐host disease after haplo‐hematopoietic stem cell transplantation by regulating regulatory T cell/effector T cell imbalance
1 INTRODUCTION Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) may occur in 30%–50% of patients who undergo transplantation from human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-matched donors.1-3 The incidence of aGVHD is higher in patients with stem cell transplants from HLA-mismatched and unrelated donors.2, 3 GVHD is characterized by the excessive activation of effector T cells (Teffs), including Th1, Th17, and cytotoxic CD8+T cells, which can result in the excessive secretion of cytokines, and ultimately induce...
Single-cell RNA sequencing reveals recruitment of the M2-like CCL8high macrophages in Lewis lung carcinoma-bearing mice following hypofractionated radiotherapy
Abstract Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are a crucial factor in reprogramming the tumor microenvironment following radiotherapy. The mechanisms underlying this process remain to be elucidated. Here, we seek to investigate the effects of hypofractionated radiotherapy on macrophages dynamics in a subcutaneous Lewis lung carcinoma murine model.

Carbon Fluxes in Potato (Solanum tuberosum) Remain Stable in Cell Cultures Exposed to Nutritional Phosphate Deficiency
1. Introduction Phosphorus (P) is an essential macronutrient in plants. It is a crucial component of membrane phospholipids needed for cell and organelle integrity [1]. As a component of DNA and RNA, it is involved in genetic information storage and transmission [1]. P also plays an essential function in metabolism, energy metabolism in particular, due to its involvement in phosphoanhydride bonds in ATP [1,2]. P is available to plants in the form of inorganic P (orthophosphate, Pi).

Effect of Sedimentary Facies Characteristics on Deep Shale Gas Desserts: A Case from the Longmaxi Formation, South Sichuan Basin, China
Abstract : Shale gas is one of the hot spots of energy development. Due to the strong heterogeneity and low physical properties of shale gas reservoirs, and the complex influencing factors of pore development, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the control factors of high-quality reservoirs.
Effectiveness of a non-physician community health-care provider-led intensive blood pressure intervention versus usual care on cardiovascular disease (CRHCP): an open-label, blinded-endpoint, cluster-randomised trial
Background Effectiveness of a non-physician community health-care provider-led intensive blood pressure intervention on cardiovascular disease has not been established. We aimed to test the effectiveness of such an intervention compared with usual care on risk of cardiovascular disease and all-cause death among individuals with hypertension.
