Is It OK To Sample Grapes At The Grocery Store? Experts Weigh In Original
Half the fun of grocery shopping is sampling your way through the aisles. There’s just something about a frozen cocktail wiener served on a toothpick and locally made pretzel twists in a Dixie Cup that makes ‘em taste that much better.
We Tried & Upgraded All Of Joanna Gaines's New Store-Bought Baked Goods Original
This may come as a shock, but here at Delish, we love baking from scratch—mostly out of the immense satisfaction of a challenging job well done. Sometimes our recipes call for getting the temperature just right (and, yes, tracking down that candy thermometer) or chilling the dough overnight; it’s more about taking the steps to absolutely nail that holiday centerpiece. But we have to admit: We have a not-so-secret soft spot for hacks, time-savers, and getting better results quicker.
10 Must-Try Desserts That Delish Readers Rated A Perfect 5 Stars
1 Chocoflan PHOTO: RACHEL VANNI; FOOD STYLING: BROOKE CAISON Chocoflan’s beautiful contrasting layers of chocolate cake and flan are totally mind-blowing. During the bake, the batters switch places, which can seem like magic. Here's the science: While baking, the cake batter aerates and takes shape before the flan has set, so it rises to the top of the pan. The craziest thing is the layers don’t mix at all during the transfer. Get the Chocoflan recipe.

Let's just put this out there: Whenever we're searching for recipes to shop for and make at home, one of the leading factors in picking one is highly dependent upon how it's rated and reviewed. From an easy, 30-minute weeknight dinner to complicated layer cakes, if you see a whole lot of comments praising (or, on the other hand, disparaging) the end result, it could sway you either way to try it out or to move on.

As The Only Football Fan At Delish, These Are The 11 Recipes I ALWAYS Bring To A Tailgate
Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, it was basically inevitable that I'd become a huge sports fan, most particularly for the Steelers. Of course, there are other sports to follow and cheer for, but there's just something about football and fall—the leaves changing, the sweater wearing, the cozy vibes, the temperatures dropping—that make this time of year truly magical.

What You Should Know Before Sampling Grapes At The Grocery Store
There are some unspoken rules when it comes to grocery shopping etiquette. Of course, there are the basic things like waiting your turn in line and being aware of your shopping cart. But there are also a few things that might be divisive. One in particular struck a chord with my friends: Is it okay to sample grapes at the store before you buy them? Half the group said it's disgusting and unsanitary. Plus, it's technically stealing from the store.

Is it okay to sample grapes before buying them?
There's a certain kind of etiquette we all stick to when buying groceries. Sure, people love debating over personal preferences—the type of shopping cart they choose, pulp vs. no pulp orange juice, or where to find the best deals. But, in general, we all agree on how to behave at the store. Video above: Is washing your produce with anything other than water a good idea? That said, a grocery store debate recently proved to be super divisive amongst my friends.

Foodie Friday: Pasta With White Wine Sauce
• None In a large pot of generously salted boiling water, cook the pasta, stirring occasionally, until very al dente (the pasta will continue to cook in the sauce). Reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking liquid before draining. • None Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium-low heat (you can also use a Dutch oven or another large pot if you don’t think all the pasta will fit), melt the butter and combine with the oil.
15 Celebrities Who Were Bullied as Kids
It can be quite difficult to imagine that the current A-list, Hollywood elite performers who are enjoying fame and fortune, and who are loved by fans around the world, could ever have once been bullied as children - but it has definitely happened. Stars including Priyanka Chopra and Justin Timberlake are among the celebrities who had to deal with what many children across the US are struggling to cope with every single day: relentless teasing and tormenting, thanks to their cruel peers.
8 & $20 Recipe: Grilled Pork Chops with Pepperoncini and Steamed Broccoli
Jun 28, 2022 Now that the warmer months are here, you’ve probably been busting out your grill (and a chilled glass of wine) to cook that perfect steak. But to mix things up a bit, next time you’re at the butcher, take a gander at those delicious-looking, thick, bone-in pork chops, which are also ideal for the grill. When it comes to grilling pork, the thicker, the better; the bone helps retain as much moisture as possible—and I think it’s more visually appealing than boneless chops or tenderloin.

Pasta With White Wine Sauce Recipe on Food52
Photo by Julia Gartland, prop styling by Anne Eastman, food styling by Lauren Lapenna Author Notes This simple, bright, yet comforting sauce features a couple of perks, the best being you can finish the bottle of white wine you use as you’re enjoying your dinner. I like an easy-to-drink, dry white wine like Pinot Grigio, but you can also use Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay for the best results here. You just don’t want to use a wine that’s too sweet and cloying.
Roasted Frozen Broccoli Recipe on Food52

You also don’t have to wait for it to thaw out before roasting; the broccoli will get nice and crispy even if there are some frozen bits still attached.
Risotto con Robiola, Limone, e Paprika Affumicata (Risotto with Creamy Cheese, Preserved Lemon, and Smoked Paprika) Recipe on Food52
Photo by Alberto Blasetti Author Notes Alice Delcourt uses preserved lemons, a Moroccan specialty, to brighten up this creamy risotto. While she makes her own by pickling quartered lemons in brine for one month, you can find jars of preserved lemons in specialty food stores. By pairing the creamy, round-tasting risotto base with piquant finishing elements, Alice adds a kick to a great classic.
Just Try Not Going Back for Seconds of This Over-the-Top Cabbage Gratin
I’m gonna go ahead and put it out there: I really, really love cabbage. Whether in soups and stews or sandwiches and salads, it’s one of my favorite, versatile leafy greens. But for serving a crowd at a holiday dinner as important as, say, Thanksgiving, cabbage is never exactly a contender in the veggie side department. Spinach, sure, a natural go-to. Roasted brussels, yes, obvs. Green beans, very classic. But plain ol’ cabbage?
23 Blackberry Recipes to Convince You It's the King of Berries
If you have a metal baking pan, use it; it will chill the mixture faster than a glass one. And remove the granita from the freezer when you scrape it—too much cold air will escape if you do this while the door's hanging open.
How to Make the Flakiest Pie Dough Ever
Mastering pie dough from scratch can seem like a scary, time-consuming task that always seems to end with flour all over the kitchen, dough stuck to the rolling pin, and pie that's more "rustic" than Instagram-ready. Instead of going through all that effort, you might as well just pick up a pre-made crust from the store, right? Well, not so fast.
18 Tequila Recipes for Margaritas, Cocktails, and Even Ice Cream
When in doubt, add soda. The resulting highball (about 2 oz. of any booze filled to the top with soda) is refreshing—and impossible to mess up.

This Quesadilla Is the Most Acceptable Way to Eat Lots of Cheese for Dinner
Welcome to Cooking Without Recipes, in which we teach you how to make a dish we love, but don’t worry too much about the nitty-gritty details of the recipe, so you can create your own spin. Whenever I find myself feeling particularly lazy after a long day at work (which is pretty much me all the time), the last thing I want to do is cook an elaborate dinner for one. More often than not, I opt for my go-to fix: a quick quesadilla stuffed with cheese, chicken, spinach.
Sanity-Saving Poached Chicken and Rice For When Life Is Just Too G-D Loud
This story is part of the 2018 Feel Good Food Plan , our two-week mind-body-belly plan for starting the year off right. There are a lot of specific things I look for in a recipe by the time January rolls around. I want food that soothes , dishes that are direct (and, ideally, delicious) correctives to the excesses and extremities of the season.
This Halibut Recipe with Charred Cabbage Comes Together Faster Than You Think
This story is part of the 2018 Feel Good Food Plan , our two-week mind-body-belly plan for starting the year off right. Cooking a mild, white fish in the oven has always been my go-to healthyish quick dinner. But I never waver from my usual process: I sprinkle the fish with seasoning, squeeze fresh lemon juice over, add vegetables to the baking sheet, and let the oven do its thing. It's good, but, admittedly, pretty boring. Then I met this slow-cooked white fish with charred cabbage.
60 Fall Recipes We're Looking Forward to Making
Oh no ... it's actually happening. The end of summer is fast approaching, and we're gearing up for shorter days, longer nights, cooler temperatures, colorful leaves, sweatshirts, and football. Not only is the weather going to change, but also the way we're cooking is too, from using fresh fall produce, like squash, sweet potatoes, and apples, to creating warming (and, okay, gluttonous) comfort food dishes, like stews, pot pies, and mac and cheese.
Tim Tebow’s Virginity Now Officially Worth $1 Million
So here's something you don't see every day: AshleyMadison.com, the polemical site that brings folks who want to cheat together, is offering $1 million to women (or men I guess too?) who can prove they've slept with New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow. Yeah. That just happened. I'm well aware that I've got some terrible karma coming to me for giving the people at AshleyMadison.com and this really gross idea press, but isn't this the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard?
Veggie Japchae Is the Starchy Stir-Fry You'll Always Crave
Welcome to Cooking Without Recipes, in which we teach you how to make a dish we love, but don’t worry too much about the nitty-gritty details of the recipe, so you can create your own spin. This is digital recipe editor Jill Baughman's recipe for veggie japchae. My love for noodles knows no bounds. But my love in particular for japchae, a Korean stir-fry made up of beautiful glass sweet potato noodles, is one of my go-to happy-place lunches.
10 Reasons 'Love Actually' Is Still the Best Rom Com 10 Years Later (VIDEOS)
But that just goes to show how beloved this movie is ... a rare feat of staying power for any romantic comedy. It had something for everyone, and not all the characters had a happily ever after. Multiple huge ensemble flicks have come out since surrounding holidays, but this one does it best. So, 10 years later, we have to celebrate a little and gear up for one of the most romantic times of the year! 1.
'Great Gatsby' Trailer Is a Visual Treat & Leo DiCaprio Looks Better Than Ever (VIDEO)
Pretty sure each and every one of us had to read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald when we were in school. Whether ya liked it or not, Nicholas "Nick" Carraway's narration of what happened to him and his neighbors during the Roaring '20s made this book one of the great American novels. And who wouldn't want to be neighbors with Jay Gatsby, who's super rich and hosts a bunch of fun, extravagant parties -- all for a woman whom he secretly still loves?
'It's a Wonderful Life' Sequel Is Going to Be Anything But Wonderful (PHOTOS)
You know what? Some things are simply sacred. For example, every year, during Christmas, my family and I watch It's a Wonderful Life. Even though we're chasing after little kids, putting together gifts with 10,000 parts, and trying to get dinner prepared while doing so, it's still on in the background, providing a comforting, familiar soundtrack to the goings-on in a happy, bustling house.
10 Homemade Stocks for All Your Soup Needs
There's nothing like a large pot of simmering goodness to welcome you home after a long, tiring day. In case you didn't know, stock, as opposed to broth, is made with bones, and the collagen from those bones gives stock its thick and gelatinous texture, which broths tend to lack. So don't ever throw those bones and scraps away...and put these 10 recipes of our favorite stocks to delicious use.
A Fine-Mesh Sieve Is the Most Annoying Thing to Clean
Sieves are one of those everyday cooking and baking essentials, like wooden spoons, cast-iron pans, and a glass of cold white wine on the counter. Some uses are obvious (making broths and stock), and some, well, aren't (see: baking with egg yolks!). Their fine mesh also makes them ideal for rinsing grains, straining egg whites, and making sauces. Because they're so essential, it's important to take care of them and—more annoyingly—clean them.

Today, digital recipe editor Jill Baughman convinces us the best way to eat summer fruit is with a size of booze and ice cream.
Fried Fish Sandwiches Recipe
Preheat oven to 200°. Whisk flour, cayenne pepper, and 1½ tsp. salt in a shallow bowl to combine. Place eggs in another shallow bowl. Combine potato chips and panko in a third shallow bowl. Pour oil into a large pot to come 2" up sides; fit with thermometer. Heat over medium-high until thermometer registers 350°. Meanwhile, working with 1 piece at a time, dip fish in flour mixture, shaking off excess, then dip in egg, letting excess drip back into bowl.
