Phase-homogeneous mixed halide perovskites for stable tandem photovoltaics
Abstract Mixed-halide wide-bandgap (WBG) perovskites needed in tandem photovoltaics suffer from phase segregation, even at the time of initial film formation – the result of asymmetric nucleation of I-rich and Br-rich phases1-3.
Metabolically and epigenetically reprogrammed splenic TRNP1 hi CD8 + T cells exacerbate liver fibrosis
Abstract Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), especially its severe form, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), progresses to liver fibrosis, leading to cirrhosis and liver cancer. The cross-talk between spleen and liver in MASLD/MASH progression remains poorly understood. Here we found enlarged spleens in patients with MASLD and identified induced TRNP1hiCD8+ T cells in spleens of MASLD/MASH mouse models and patients.
Therapy of allergic rhinitis using ribavirin spray to clear nasal commensal viruses
|
Abstract Much attention has focused on commensal bacteria in health and disease, but the role of commensal viruses is largely unexplored. Although commensal viruses are suggested in some organs such as intestine to maintain tissue homeostasis, it is unknown whether they participate in the physiology or pathology of nose, which directly contacts outer environment.

Multimode phonon-polaritons in lead-halide perovskites in the ultrastrong coupling regime - Nature Communications
Abstract Phonons play a central role in fundamental solid-state phenomena, including superconductivity, Raman scattering, and symmetry-breaking phases. Harnessing phonons to control these effects and enable quantum technologies is therefore of great interest. However, most existing phonon control strategies rely on external driving fields or anharmonic interactions, limiting their applicability.

Research on the influence of nozzle structure parameters and surfactant-magnetised water on atomisation characteristics and its field application
ABSTRACT To effectively promote the efficiency of spray-based dust suppression, the influence of nozzle structure parameters and surfactant-magnetised water on atomisation characteristics was studied in this study. The experimental results show that the surfactant-magnetised solution boasts great wetting performance for coking coal at the surfactant concentration of 0.03 wt%. The droplet velocity was effectively improved, reaching 7.5 m/s at a distance of 50 cm.
Hybrid biological-chemical strategy for converting polyethylene into a recyclable plastic monomer using engineered Corynebacterium glutamicum
The richness and versatility of biological systems make them ideally suited to address some of the world's most significant challenges, such as converting cheap, unrenewable resources into valuable molecules (Keasling, 2008). Synthetic biology builds on these biological systems by engineering microbial metabolic pathways to produce both natural and non-natural compounds (Benner and Sismour, 2005), making it a promising approach to tackle critical environmental and resource challenges.
Automatic Reading Method for Analog Dial Gauges with Different Measurement Ranges in Outdoor Substation Scenarios
1. Introduction Substations are usually equipped with a large number of pressure gauges, temperature gauges, and ammeters to monitor the equipment’s operating status. Staff must manually read the meters periodically to check that the equipment is working properly. However, due to the presence of high magnetic fields and high radiation in the substation environment, the frequent entry and exit of personnel tends to increase the risk of accidents [1].

ReaL-MGE is a tool for enhanced multiplex genome engineering and application to malonyl-CoA anabolism - Nature Communications
Abstract The complexities encountered in microbial metabolic engineering continue to elude prediction and design. Unravelling these complexities requires strategies that go beyond conventional genetics. Using multiplex mutagenesis with double stranded (ds) DNA, we extend the multiplex repertoire previously pioneered using single strand (ss) oligonucleotides. We present ReaL-MGE (Recombineering and Linear CRISPR/Cas9 assisted Multiplex Genome Engineering).
Upconversion luminescence and temperature sensing of NaLuF4:Yb/Er/Tm microcrystals at low temperatures
Upconversion luminescence and temperature sensing of NaLuF4:Yb/Er/Tm microcrystals at low temperatures In this study, Yb/Er/Tm-doped NaLuF4 luminescent microcrystals were synthesised hydrothermally. Then, the upconversion spectra of these microcrystals at low temperatures (5–303 K) were investigated, and their potential for temperature sensing assessed. As the temperature decreased, the intensity of the emission peak correspondingly increased.
Cervical cancer-produced neuromedin-B reprograms Schwann cells to initiate perineural invasion - Cell Death & Disease
Abstract Perineural invasion (PNI) is a new approach of cervical cancer invasion and metastasis, involving the cross-talk between tumor and nerve. However, the initiating signals and cellular interaction mechanisms of PNI remain largely elusive. The nerve-sparing radical hysterectomy (NSRH) proposed to improve postoperative quality of life is only applicable to cervical cancer patients without PNI.

Author Correction: A non-carboxylative route for the efficient synthesis of central metabolite malonyl-CoA and its derived products - Nature Catalysis
Correction to: Nature Catalysis https://doi.org/10.1038/s41929-023-01103-2, published online 29 January 2024. In the version of the article initially published, natamycin, a macrolide fungicidal, was incorrectly described as an aminoglycoside antibiotic.
A non-carboxylative route for the efficient synthesis of central metabolite malonyl-CoA and its derived products - Nature Catalysis
Abstract Acetyl coenzyme A (CoA) carboxylation is the natural route for endogenous malonyl-CoA formation; however, this pathway presents slow kinetics, carbon and energy inefficiencies, tight regulations and a complicated architecture. These shortcomings limit flux towards malonyl-CoA and become a bottleneck towards the biosynthesis of malonyl-CoA-derived products (MDPs).
Dynamics of self-hybridized exciton–polaritons in 2D halide perovskites - Light: Science & Applications
Abstract Excitons, bound electron–hole pairs, in two-dimensional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites (2D HOIPs) are capable of forming hybrid light-matter states known as exciton-polaritons (E–Ps) when the excitonic medium is confined in an optical cavity. In the case of 2D HOIPs, they can self-hybridize into E–Ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIP crystals that form a resonant optical cavity with the excitons.
Reconfiguration of the reductive TCA cycle enables high-level succinic acid production by Yarrowia lipolytica - Nature Communications
Abstract Succinic acid (SA) is an important C4-dicarboxylic acid. Microbial production of SA at low pH results in low purification costs and hence good overall process economics. However, redox imbalances limited SA biosynthesis from glucose via the reductive tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle in yeast. Here, we engineer the strictly aerobic yeast Yarrowia lipolytica for efficient SA production without pH control.
Synthesis of 2D perovskite crystals via progressive transformation of quantum well thickness - Nature Synthesis
Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) multilayered halide perovskites have emerged as a platform for understanding organic–inorganic interactions, tuning quantum confinement effects and realizing efficient and durable optoelectronic devices. However, reproducibly synthesizing 2D perovskite crystals with a perovskite-layer thickness (quantum well thickness, n-value) >2 using existing crystal growth methods is challenging.

Ultrafast relaxation of lattice distortion in two-dimensional perovskites - Nature Physics
Abstract Direct visualization of ultrafast coupling between charge carriers and lattice degrees of freedom in photoexcited semiconductors has remained a long-standing challenge and is critical for understanding the light-induced physical behaviour of materials under extreme non-equilibrium conditions. Here we obtain a direct visualization of the structural dynamics in monocrystalline 2D perovskites.
Bug Hunt! Spiraling In On Formal Coverage Closure
By Mark Eslinger and Jin Hou Many companies have used formal verification to verify complex SoCs and safety-critical designs. Using formal verification to confirm design functionalities and to uncover functional bugs is emerging as an efficient verification approach. Although formal verification will not handle the complexity of a design at the SoC level, it is an efficient tool to verify the design blocks or IP comprehensively.
Complete two-dimensional photonic bandgap in refractive-index ratio 2.1 photonic crystals due to high-order bands
Abstract We find that in a suitably designed photonic crystal (PC) certain high-order photonic bands are less affected by the refractive-index ratio (RIR) than low-order bands, enabling the realization of a robust and complete two-dimensional (2D) photonic bandgap in a moderate refractive-index-ratio PC.
Tumor-Induced Generation of Splenic Erythroblast-like Ter-Cells Promotes Tumor Progression
(Cell 173, 634–648.e1–e12; April 19, 2018) In preparing the figures of our paper, we made two errors in Figure S1. First, we inadvertently duplicated the upper panel of Figure S1E in the upper right panel of Figure S1D. The panel in Figure S1D purportedly represented the tumor mass at the time point of 0 months in the DEN-induced HCC mouse model. However, because there was no tumor at the zero time point, we have deleted Panel S1D in the corrected version of the figure shown here.
Four Steps To ISO 26262 Safety Mechanism Insertion And Validation
By Ping Yeung, Jin Hou, Vinayak Desai, and Jacob Wiltgen The complexity of automotive integrated circuits (ICs) has grown exponentially with the introduction of advanced driver-assistance systems and autonomous-drive technologies. Directly correlated to this hike in complexity is the increased burden of ensuring an IC is protected from random hardware faults—functional failures that occur unpredictably.

Tumor-Induced Generation of Splenic Erythroblast-like Ter-Cells Promotes Tumor Progression
Identifying tumor-induced leukocyte subsets and their derived circulating factors has been instrumental in understanding cancer as a systemic disease. Nevertheless, how primary tumor-induced non-leukocyte populations in distal organs contribute to systemic spread remains poorly defined. Here, we report one population of tumor-inducible, erythroblast-like cells (Ter-cells) deriving from megakaryocyte-erythroid progenitor cells with a unique Ter-119+CD45−CD71+ phenotype.
Corrigendum: The RNA helicase DDX46 inhibits innate immunity by entrapping m6A-demethylated antiviral transcripts in the nucleus
In the version of this article initially published, the label 'siDDX46' in the key to Figure 5g is incorrect. That label should read 'siALKBH5'. The error has been corrected in the HTML and PDF versions of this article.
