The oral–lung axis in lung cancer: microbial translocation, immune reprogramming, and clinical implications
Abstract The oral–lung axis describes microbial and inflammatory exchange between the oral cavity and the lower respiratory tract. Its relevance to lung cancer is supported by the detection of oral-associated taxa in lower-airway samples, epidemiological links between periodontal disease and lung cancer risk, and experimental evidence that microbial signals can modify epithelial proliferation and antitumor immunity.
Emotional and behavioral problems in children of parents with severe mental illness in Wuhan, China: the roles of child maltreatment and exposure to parental victimization
Abstract Guided by a developmental-ecological and trauma-informed framework, children of parents with severe mental illness (SMI) may develop emotional and behavioral problems (EBPs) through inherited vulnerability, disrupted caregiving, socioeconomic adversity, stigma, and trauma-related exposures. However, the roles of direct trauma (child maltreatment, operationalized here as emotional and physical abuse) and indirect trauma (exposure to parental victimization) remain poorly understood.
Mindfulness as a mediator of the relationship between childhood maltreatment and school bullying involvement
Abstract Childhood maltreatment (CM) is a major public health concern that substantially raises the risk of adolescent school bullying. While mindfulness alleviates trauma-related distress by enhancing emotional regulation, its mediating effect on the link between maltreatment and bullying remains poorly understood. This cross-sectional study recruited 27,530 adolescents aged 10–17 years. Multilevel logistic regression and structural equation modeling were applied.
Circulating tumor DNA in lung cancer immunotherapy: prognostic marker today, predictive tool tomorrow?
Abstract Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is emerging as a minimally invasive biomarker for risk stratification and treatment-response assessment in lung cancer immunotherapy, but its routine use for treatment selection has not been established.
Low-dose baricitinib plus danazol in primary immune thrombocytopenia: a randomized, controlled phase 2 trial
|
Abstract This multicenter, randomized, controlled study was conducted to explore the safety and efficacy of low-dose baricitinib plus danazol for ITP patients who had failed corticosteroids and at least one recommended subsequent treatment. Participants were randomly assigned to receive baricitinib plus danazol (n = 108) or danazol alone (n = 108) by a central, interactive web-based system. Patients and caregivers were not blinded to group assignment.

Camrelizumab Plus Famitinib in Recurrent or Metastatic Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Phase 2 Study
1 Introduction Most patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) present with locally advanced disease at diagnosis and are treated with surgery, definitive (chemo)radiation, or platinum-based chemotherapy [1]. Despite ongoing advancements in surgical techniques and chemotherapeutic strategies, the prognosis for most patients with advanced disease remains poor [2].
First Day of Musk’s Lawsuit Against Altman: “No Me, No OpenAI”
At the heart of this trial lies an AI giant valued at over $1 trillion—and the complete collapse of trust between two former friends. By: Jin Lu Edited by: Boyang On April 28, U.S. time, Elon Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI commenced in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in Oakland. Musk appeared as the first witness, attempting to explain to the nine-member jury why he originally intended OpenAI to be a nonprofit organization.
Diagnostic accuracy of digital clock drawing test for Alzheimer disease and mild cognitive impairment
Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) are major public health concerns, requiring accurate and scalable diagnostic tools. The digital clock drawing test (dCDT) captures drawing data and enables extraction of process-related features that may improve diagnostic performance. However, existing evidence remains inconsistent, highlighting the need for a systematic synthesis to support its clinical translation.
Hypnotic doses of fazamorexant induced less impairment on balance and cognition than zolpidem in healthy younger and elderly individualse
What is already known about this subject The prescription of GABA-A receptor agonists for insomnia is associated with adverse effects including dependence, cognitive impairment and an increased risk of falls, particularly in elderly patients. Fazamorexant is a novel dual orexin receptor antagonist currently in development for insomnia treatment. However, its age-dependent pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics profiles remain.

A Dengue Fever Epidemiological Model With Vaccination and Vaccine Inefficacy
The global impact of dengue has prompted the development of numerous mathematical models aimed at understanding and controlling the pandemic. The Qdenga vaccine was introduced in 2022 to prevent dengue infection. Building on this, we develop a threshold-based dynamical model of the dengue fever epidemic that incorporates vaccination, vaccine inefficacy, and asymptomatic carriers.

LncRNA LINC00665 Promotes Ovarian Cancer Cell Proliferation and Inhibits Apoptosis via Targeting miR-181a-5p/FHDC.
Previous reports indicate that long intergenic non-coding RNA LINC00665 naturally occurred vital effects in various cancers. Herein, the role of LINC00665 in ovarian cancer progress was explored. We found that LINC00665 was upregulated in ovarian cancer cell lines.
Dipole-spread-function engineering for simultaneously measuring the 3D orientations and 3D positions of fluorescent molecules
Abstract Interactions between biomolecules are characterized by where they occur and how they are organized, e.g., the alignment of lipid molecules to form a membrane. However, spatial and angular information are mixed within the image of a fluorescent molecule–the microscope’s dipole-spread function (DSF). We demonstrate the pixOL algorithm to simultaneously optimize all pixels within a phase mask to produce an engineered Green’s tensor–the dipole extension of point-spread function engineering.

Risk factors on admission associated with hospital length of stay in patients with COVID-19: a retrospective cohort study
Abstract Treating patients with COVID-19 is expensive, thus it is essential to identify factors on admission associated with hospital length of stay (LOS) and provide a risk assessment for clinical treatment. To address this, we conduct a retrospective study, which involved patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection in Hefei, China and being discharged between January 20 2020 and March 16 2020.
Linoleic Acid-Derived Carbon Microspheres with Hierarchical Porous Structure and Controllable Surface Groups toward Application in Supercapacitors
Hierarchical porous carbons (HPCs) with optimized porosity and enriched surface functional groups are a promising carbon material for supercapacitor development. However, it is a challenge to realize the selective regulation of surface functional groups. In this study, the HPCs with enriched carbonyl (C═O) and carboxyl (O–C═O) groups were prepared from linoleic acid by using the carbonization under autogenic pressure at elevated temperatures (CAPET) method followed by KOH activation.
