It was 2003. My birthday was coming up. All I wanted was Madden 2004, the one with the league’s most exciting player on the cover — Michael Vick (Yikes). My parents (lovingly) got me a gift, and gave it to me to open. I unwrapped it and found a different player on the cover — Marshall Faulk. It was Madden 2003. As an adult now, I understand buying the year-old entry for a dumb 11-year-old kid. But as that kid, I was bummed out.

'Final Fantasy VII Remake' is finally here and it's something to behold

Rating: 9/10 "Final Fantasy VII Remake" is finally here, and it's far more than a fresh coat of paint slapped onto the original, it's an entirely different piece of art. Remember in the late 90s when polygonal graphics looked impressive? With a little imagination and an eye squint or two, "Tomb Raider" looked like an action flick, "Resident Evil" zombies were scary and Cloud Strife's giant sword in "Final Fantasy VII" seemed practical. Boy, how times have changed.
