John M. O’Connor (Career Pro Inc.) is a multi-year career coach, outplacement and career services leader based in North Carolina. Job fairs, career expos and in-person hiring events are worth another look these days. Not because you are necessarily going to walk into a convention center, hand somebody your résumé and walk out with a six-figure job. You probably won’t.

Democratic socialism hardly a four-letter word | John O’Connor
A recent letter-writer in The Republican correctly asserted that President Trump intentionally mischaracterizes Democratic candidates as communist radicals, solely as a means of distracting voters from the utter policy failures of Trump 2.0. Many Americans likely have a misguided understanding of the origins of socialism and communism.

The ECB’s launch of Pontes and ESMA’s analysis of tokenised equities point to a step change at infrastructure level. Yet Irish company and funds law has not kept pace with these developments, particularly with respect to legal title and shareholder registers. The Meta Lawsuit Is Pickin’ on the Wrong Chicken Who’s really responsible for raising the kids?
As the seemingly heroic state attorneys general bring the putatively villainous Meta to trial in federal court in Oakland, California, our credulous media, to no one’s surprise, ask no probing questions about the allegations’ merit. So, we ask them here. To be sure, many young people so overuse Meta’s social media platforms — Facebook and Instagram — that such excess can contribute to mental health problems or worsen existing ones.

Greenpoint’s Alternate-Side-of-the-Street Breakfast
Image and photos by Joe “Kirsch” Curcio I’m convinced that one of the reasons New York is considered “the city that never sleeps” is alternate side-of-the-street parking. The truth is, at 8 a.m. in Greenpoint, you stand a better chance of scoring a jelly donut at Peter Pan before they sell out than you do of finding a legal parking spot. Even on your day off, you have to wake up before the first scent of bacon from the 3-Decker diner hits the air – or risk a $65 ticket.

Budget discussions underway
Budget discussions are now in full swing as lawmakers address several amendments to the $1.4 billion government funding measure - or at least try to. Finance committee chair Sen. He said those amendments would be entertained later, in the bill's section on miscellaneous provisions.

Technology Report 2026: Legal & Regulatory Lead The Agenda
William Fry are most popular: within Transport, Insolvency/Bankruptcy/Re-Structuring and Strategy topic(s) Why legal and regulatory now sit at the front of the queue Perhaps the single most striking finding of this survey is that 81% of larger organisations now place legal and regulatory requirements at the top of their list of considerations when adopting new technology. Cop Shoots Dog
Summer 1988. Apollo’s white-hot chariot blazed through the blue sky over East Village Grocery on Avenue A. A gray-haired grocer sprayed rainbows across his fruits and vegetables in front of the store. On the sidewalk in front of me, a little old lady in a lavender moomoo and matching bob walked her poodle.

Avoiding TACO: Any Deal Enabling the IRGC Is a Bad Deal
We all know that President Trump presents himself as a dealmaker who will accept only a “good deal” with Iran; in contrast, he argues, to the agreements reached by Obama and Biden. But what, exactly, constitutes a good deal? If an Iran peace agreement is perceived as overly favorable to the IRGC and fails to genuinely foreclose its support for terrorism, it will go down in history as Trump’s snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
How 'Peace-Loving' American Presidents Have Endangered the World
It was no surprise that Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize less than a year after taking office as President of the United States in 2008. After all, he had, as a Senator, already made the world (he claimed) safer by forcing Ukraine to rid itself of its store of conventional weapons. He arranged American funding of approximately $48 million, as part of the Nunn-Lugar Partnership, to destroy thousands of tons of weaponry.

Justice Thomas’s Defense of Inalienable Rights Vexes Progressives
As we near our country’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, one would think all Americans, however politically divided, would agree that its ringing words, invoking Creator-endowed inalienable rights, should be applauded. But if you think this is one document upon which we can all agree, think again.
