ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - On Wednesday, April 24, Loren Lampert was officially sworn in as a judge in the 9th Judicial District Court for Division “D” at the Rapides Parish Courthouse. Lampert defeated attorney Allie Nowlin in the March 2024 election to win the judgeship. He brings years of experience to the bench, previously serving as chief of police for the Alexandria Police Department, a district attorney and taking on several other roles in his law enforcement career.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Junior League of Alexandria hosted its first Empowerment Breakfast on April 11. The women of the Junior League awarded senior female scholarship recipients and local non-profit grant recipients and also recognized teachers who received the Junior League’s teacher mini-grants. They also awarded the inaugural winner of the Spirit of Sara Simmonds Award, which is given to a community leader who has embodied the spirit of Sara Simmonds through servant leadership.

LECOMPTE, La. (KALB) - A mock trial was held at Rapides High School on March 15 as part of the Sudden Impact Program with Louisiana State Police. The trial follows a mock crash that was held at the high school in November of last year, all to showcase the consequences of poor decisions while driving. KALB’s own Jojuana Phillips played the part of a reporter providing news coverage of the trial.
