Computer Science > Cryptography and Security
LLM agents arbitrate among instructions from system prompts, users, memory, and tools, but this arbitration cannot be assumed to enforce trust boundaries. We identify a recognition-enforcement gap: source-format features (role-template position, channel metadata, formatting cues) are linearly decodable from model activations, and models can explicitly identify forged authority when prompted, yet some configurations still produce the conflicting tool call.
A privacy-preserving data augmentation approach for credit card fraud detection
Abstract Credit card fraud detection faces a dual challenge: severe class imbalance (fraud rates < 0.2%) and strict privacy regulations preventing cross-institutional data sharing. Federated Learning (FL) allows multiple organizations to work together to train a common model while maintaining privacy.

R-loop homeostasis at transposable elements safeguards transcriptional silencing in replication-quiescent oocytes
Abstract R-loops, though implicated in genome stability, have poorly defined transcriptional roles due to confounding replication processes in proliferating cells. Here, by leveraging replication-free oocytes and RTACC-seq, a tailored high-specificity R-loop mapping approach for low-input samples, we identify dynamic R-loop enrichment at both gene promoters and distal transposable elements.
Two audiences, two standards: evaluating human vs. LLM poetry translation through bilingual and monolingual lenses
Abstract This study investigates how bilingual (Chinese-English) and monolingual (English) audiences evaluate classical Chinese poetry translations, comparing human and GPT-4 outputs. Using mixed methods (ratings, qualitative comments), 19 bilingual and 19 monolingual readers assessed five translations (four human, one GPT-4) for each of six classical Chinese poems. Findings revealed two distinct, audience-specific standards.

Transitions Into Freezing Environments Linked With Shifts in Phylogenetic Integration Between Vitaceae Leaf Traits
1 Introduction Phenotypic traits often covary. The causes, consequences, and biological significance of trait covariation are complex and manifest distinct patterns across levels of temporal and biological scales. Trait covariation provides a numeric basis for partitioning the phenotype into semi-autonomous regions, where suites of traits covary internally but are independent of one another. This is referred to as modularity (Wagner, Pavlicev, and Cheverud 2007).
