Abstract Understanding the correlation and propagation between hydrological and meteorological droughts is crucial for drought early warning and water resource management.
Prognostic discrimination of SOFA-2 vs. SOFA-1 and incremental information from cardiovascular scoring and vasoactive support intensity in patients with sepsis receiving early vasoactive therapy
Abstract Background: Patients with sepsis who require vasoactive support during the first 24 h of intensive care represent a heterogeneous population. It is uncertain whether the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA)-2 score improves mortality discrimination compared with the SOFA-1 score and whether observed circulatory support intensity provides complementary prognostic information.
Progress in sepsis prediction models: from traditional scoring systems to multimodal intelligence and clinical translation
1 Introduction Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Recent global estimates indicate that sepsis remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide. Based on the latest Global Burden of Disease Study 2023, it is estimated that in 2021 there were approximately 166 million sepsis cases globally, resulting in about 21.4 million deaths, accounting for roughly one-third of all deaths worldwide.
The endothelial-immunothrombotic storm in viral sepsis: lessons from COVID-19
1 Introduction Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection and remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, imposing a substantial burden on healthcare systems (1, 2). As a highly heterogeneous syndrome triggered by diverse pathogens, its etiological spectrum extends beyond bacteria to include viruses and fungi (2).

Pathophysiological mechanisms of ARDS: a narrative review from molecular to organ-level perspectives - Respiratory Research
A cytokine storm denotes a hyperactive immune response triggered by infection or injury, resulting in the rapid and excessive release of cytokines and chemokines [8]. This phenomenon is particularly pronounced in ARDS, where it plays a central role in driving lung injury and dysfunction [9, 10]. The cytokine storm is characterized by the release of numerous pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), Interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and IL-6 [8].

Buildings | Free Full-Text | An Investigation into the Distribution of Fluctuating Wind Pressure and Associated Probabilistic Characteristics of Low-Rise Buildings Impacted by the Gap between the Hillside and the Building
1. Introduction In the southeast coastal provinces of China, there is a significant quantity of low-lying structures, with the majority featuring double-sloped roofs and eaves. In the statistics of typhoon disaster losses, the collapse of low-rise buildings under mountains and the casualties caused by these account for a considerable proportion. As is shown in Figure 1, the low-rise buildings under the mountain terrain were significantly damaged affected by the typhoon.
