I was born in Bombay in 1956 to V Srinivasan and Malati Mahadevan, grew up in the districts my civil servant father helped administer, Akola and Nagpur.
I atudied at Bishop Cotton in Nagpur, Cathedral School Bombay, King’s School, Canterbury, Trinity College, Cambridge.
