EL DORADO, Kan. (KAKE) — A petition seeking to ban high-impact data centers and certain battery energy storage systems in El Dorado has reached another milestone after the Butler County Clerk certified the petition. The petition asks the city to either adopt an ordinance prohibiting high-impact data centers and Tier 2 and Tier 3 battery energy storage systems within city limits or allow voters to decide the issue in a special election.

(KAKE) — After major flooding over the weekend left roads underwater, homes damaged and emergency crews stretched thin, officials in south-central Kansas are continuing cleanup efforts while monitoring the potential for more rain. Sumner County Emergency Management says the heaviest flooding occurred in the southern and southeastern parts of the county after several inches of rain fell across the region.
