BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The Bryan Police Department announced the passing of a former chief Wednesday. Chief Charles Phelps served with the department from August 1960 to March 1993. He served as the Chief of Police for 13 years from 1980 to 1993. BPD says he was passionate about law enforcement. “It was not just a job, but a lifestyle,” the department wrote. “He was an honorable officer on and off the job.” The department says he earned numerous honors and awards as chief.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M President Mark Welsh can now officially negotiate a contract with Athletic Director Trev Alberts. The details of his contract will be released once it’s finalized. It’s been reported that the university will spend over $4 million to buy Alberts out of his contract with Nebraska, which he signed an eight-year extension last November. That was one of two items on the Board of Regents agenda Wednesday.
