MILLBURY, Ohio — Sixteen years ago, northwest Ohio experienced one of the most devastating tornadoes in recent history. On the night of June 5, 2010, a violent EF-4 tornado tore through parts of Wood and Ottawa counties, leaving behind catastrophic damage in communities including Millbury, Lake Township and Moline. The tornado remains one of the deadliest and strongest storms to strike Ohio in modern history.

After several warm days across northwest Ohio, the weather pattern continues to look more summer-like. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday afternoon and evening, and while widespread severe weather is not expected, a few isolated storms could become strong to severe before cooler air arrives midweek. Gusty winds, lightning and brief heavy rain could create short-term impacts Tuesday evening.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Weather Impact Alert has been issued for Monday afternoon and evening as the chance for strong storms increases across northwest Ohio. Monday could also end up being the warmest day of the year so far, with temperatures climbing well above normal and humidity levels making it feel more like summer than spring. That warm, muggy air is one reason storm chances are possible Monday.
