The Portland Timbers secured a major piece of their 2026 roster on Monday, acquiring Cole Bassett from the Colorado Rapids for a $2.65 million. The 24-year-old midfielder will be slotted as a U22 Initiative player in 2026 and is signed through 2027, the club announced. Portland could pay up to an additional $950,000 in performance-based add-ons, taking the deal to a potential $3.6 million. Timbers’ Kristoffer Velde didn’t come back to adapt.
