RICHMOND, Va—- A Richmond restaurant owner is calling for accountability after a Department of Public Utilities billing error automatically withdrew roughly $60,000 from her bank account. Natalie McNamara, CEO of Harry's at Hofheimer, says her normal DPU bill runs less than $2,000. So when she opened her August statement, she was stunned. "I mean, this is obviously wrong. This is crazy, and it's also gonna take a lot of time to figure out why I got a $58,000 bill," McNamara said.

NEW KENT, Va— Every school year, Tammy Guido McGee thinks about her son Connor. He was 16 years old when he died in a car crash in 2019. Now, she is turning that grief into action one high school parking lot at a time. "My fight is for Connor. I am Connor's voice now after losing him in a single car crash in 2019," Guido McGee said. Connor was a passenger in a car full of teenagers. Investigators later learned the driver was unlicensed and speeding.

Petersburg apartment fire displaces some Carriage House residents for the second time in months

PETERSBURG, Va—- Petersburg firefighters responded to a fire alarm at Carriage House apartments just before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, battling smoke and an activated sprinkler system that caused water damage across multiple units. Deputy Fire Chief Christopher Magann said a kitchen fire triggered the sprinkler system, leading to water damage in other parts of the building. Six apartments were affected — five of them occupied.
