Tri-Cities Airport closes Runway 5/23 for evaluation and repairs; no reopening date set

An investigation revealed an approximately 20-foot by 20-foot by 17-foot sinkhole beneath the runway surface. Repair efforts are currently underway, the airport said. Tri-Cities Airport has temporarily closed Runway 5/23 until further notice after identifying a condition that requires evaluation and repair.
