Design, Synthesis, and Preclinical Evaluation of Novel Dimeric RM2-Based Radioligands for GRPR-Targeted Breast Cancer Imaging Click to copy article link Article link copied!
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! The gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR) is an attractive target for breast cancer (BC) imaging, but the in vivo performance of GRPR-targeted radioligands, such as RM2 and NeoB, is limited by metabolic instability, which may compromise tumor retention. Here, we designed two dimeric RM2-based radioligands, hdPP-01 and hdPP-02, to investigate whether homodimerization could improve the preclinical profile of GRPR-targeted radiotracers.

A Discontinuity Analysis of the 2015 Introduction of Bushfire Prone Area Maps
1 Introduction Wildfires present a serious threat to human safety and infrastructure, resulting in economic impacts and public health issues. They damage utilities, transportation systems, and businesses, contribute to GDP losses and dislocate employment (Meier et al., 2023; Nielsen-Pincus et al., 2014). Smoke produced by wildfires causes morbidity and mortality impacts (Liu et al., 2015; Reid et al., 2016) and generates other, non-health-related ones (Meier et al., 2024).

Efficient purification of impurities from depleted uranium chips by hydrogen plasma arc melting
Nuclear energy is one of the promising future energy sources for mankind, with the continuous development of nuclear energy, the stocks of depleted uranium (DU) are increasing. Gasdermin-D pores induce an inactivating caspase-4 cleavage that limits IL-18 production in the intestinal epithelium - Communications Biology
Abstract Intestinal epithelial-derived IL-18 is critical for homeostatic intestinal barrier function and is secreted through Gasdermin D (GSDMD) pores. Inflammasome activation is a prerequisite for both IL-18 maturation and GSDMD pore formation. However, GSDMD pores also cause pyroptotic cell death, which could be detrimental to the intestinal epithelial barrier. How epithelial cells balance the need to secrete IL-18 and to maintain barrier integrity remains poorly understood.
Extreme Indian summer monsoon states stifled Bay of Bengal productivity across the last deglaciation - Nature Geoscience
Abstract Indian summer monsoon (ISM) hydrology fuels biogeochemical cycling across South Asia and the Indian Ocean, exerting a first-order control on food security in Earth’s most densely populated areas. Although the ISM is projected to intensify under continued greenhouse forcing, substantial uncertainty surrounds anticipating its impacts on future Indian Ocean stratification and primary production—processes key to the health of already-declining fisheries in the region.

Band anisotropy and effective mass renormalization in strained metallic VO2 (101) thin films - NPG Asia Materials
Abstract We explore how strain impacts the band structure of metallic-phase VO2 thin films deposited on TiO2(101) substrates. Employing a combination of X-ray absorption linear dichroism and valence band measurements, we demonstrate that strain can alter the intrinsic band structure anisotropy of metallic VO2. Our findings reveal that reducing the thickness of VO2 films leads to a more isotropic band structure.
Theoretically grounded approaches to account for polarization effects in fixed-charge force fields
Calculate the liquid phase dipole moment of the molecule of interest. The accuracy of this step is of paramount importance, and a method that is able to describe both local and mean-field polarization contributions is essential, as will be discussed in more detail in Sec. III A. Apply Eq. (16) to calculate the model dipole moment (μM) that leads to net zero polarization correction energy for the pure fluid.

DEVELOPMENT OF A BIOSCAFFOLD BASED ON DECELLULARIZED PORCINE AORTA REPOPULATED WITH HUMAN VASCULAR SMOOTH MUSCLE CELLS
Aortic aneurysm is the 2nd disease affecting the aorta and the 15th leading cause of death in individuals aged ≥55 years. The endovascular procedure involves a stent graft to exclude the aneurysm from the systemic circulation. The issues on the use of grafts are no diametral expansion under physiological pressure, insufficiency of the aortic valve, and mechanical mismatch. Compatible grafts for aortic repair are needed to improve the longevity of the grafts.

MAFB in Macrophages Regulates Prostaglandin E2-Mediated Lipid Mediator Class Switch through ALOX15 in Ischemic Acute Kidney Injury
Ischemic acute kidney injury (AKI) is characterized by a rapid decline in renal function, occurring within a few hours to several days due to reduced blood flow into the kidneys, due to conditions such as sepsis or hypotension. The incidence of AKI has been increasing steadily annually. AKI is linked to severe outcomes: 10–15% of AKI patients succumb to the associated acute illness, 3–15% advance to end-stage renal disease, and 20–50% develop chronic kidney disease (CKD) (1, 2).

Pressure-driven molecule implantation enabling ultrahigh-rate and ultralong-life zinc ion batteries
Aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs) are very promising for scale energy storage because of their intrinsic safety, eco-friendliness, and cost-effectiveness [1], [2]. The zinc metal anodes feature a low potential and a high hydrogen evolution overpotential that provides a wider electrochemical stability window (ESW) [3]. The double-electron (Zn0/2+) transfer mechanisms during charging and discharging contribute to the high energy density of AZIBs [4], [5].

With the rapid advancement of portable electronic devices, electric vehicles, and power storage stations, stringent requirements have been imposed on the energy and safety of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) [1], [2], [3], [4]. Lithium metal is regarded as an ideal anode for rechargeable batteries due to its low potential (−3.04 V versus standard hydrogen electrodes) and high theoretical specific capacity of 3860mAh/g [5], [6], [7].
Nanoporous Ti3C2O2 monolayer towards high permeance and selectivity for CO2/N2 separation: CO2-MXene interaction tuning
Excessive CO2 emissions have led to serious issues, affecting the living environment of human beings and ecological balance of the earth [1]. Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology is a strategy for rapidly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving global carbon neutrality [2], [3], [4], [5]. The continuing development of CO2 purification and separation is thus crucial and unavoidable in the pursuit of this goal [6].
Microscopy of terahertz spoof surface plasmons propagating on planar metamaterial waveguides
Our FEM simulations have shown that SSPPs may be excited on our structures using an obliquely incident free-space beam with either p- or s-polarization (see the supplementary material). We initially studied the excitation of SSPPs using a p-polarized beam obliquely incident on the waveguide, as shown in Fig. 3(b). In this case, a grating structure with period α = 20 μm was integrated on the end of the waveguide, with the other end left unmodified.

Cu(II)-Catalyzed H/D exchange of indole derivatives
Cu(OTf) was explored as an efficient catalyst for hydrogen deuterium (H/D) exchange of indole derivatives. The advantage of this reaction is that deuteration selectivity can be adjusted by changing reaction parameters. When the reaction was performed with 10 mol% of Cu(OTf) as a catalyst in dioxane at 80 °C, deuteration preferentially occurred at C3 position of indole with high atom% deuterium incorporation.
