Loriann Sentman’s classroom is a cozy mix of warm lighting, photo snapshots, news clippings, dining-room chairs, working appliances and game-ball trophies. Some students are there for four years as they learn life skills for the real world. As a special-education teacher by day, a coach by night and on weekends, Sentman was recently named Indian River High School’s 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year. Her Life Skills classroom used to be called the intensive learning center (ILC).
