Finite-Element Harmonic Analysis of Sandwich Plates with Periodically Modulated Faces and a Viscoelastic Core
Submitted: 10 October 2026 You are already at the latest version Constrained-layer damping in sandwich floors and wall panels is usually analysed with uniform faces and a uniform core, while phononic treatments of periodicity address stop bands rather than the first few forced resonances of a finite plate. A seven-degree-of-freedom rectangular finite element is formulated here for a three-layer sandwich plate whose face thicknesses and core shear moduli vary in the plane as separable cosines.
SPH-based numerical simulation of uniaxial compression of concrete with random polygonal aggregates
Abstract Random polygonal aggregates represent the most realistic morphology of aggregates in the mesostructure of concrete. Their angular characteristics and spatial distribution play a decisive role in the stress concentration, crack initiation, and planar structural response of concrete under uniaxial compression. Consequently, in-depth investigation into this subject is essential for revealing the fundamental mechanisms underlying the macroscopic mechanical behavior of concrete.

Scaling‑free electro‑membrane crystallization enabled by electric field-assisted organic acid control
Abstract Mineral scaling, driven by concentration polarization, is an inevitable challenge in electro-membrane technologies for recovering valuable metals from lithium-ion battery (LIB) leachates. Here, we elucidate the synergistic scaling mechanism and propose an electric field-assisted organic acid control (eF-OAC) principle to prevent membrane mineral scaling while enabling metal recovery.
Automated risk scoring for venous thromboembolism using large language models with expert knowledge-augmented prompting: a multicenter validation study
|
Abstract Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common but preventable complication in hospitalized patients, yet standardized risk scoring using unstructured electronic health records (EHRs) remains challenging. We retrospectively analyzed anonymized EHRs from a nationwide multicenter cohort across 30 hospitals. Using stratified random sampling, 50 cases from 10 hospitals were used for development and 200 cases from the remaining 20 hospitals for testing.

Disruption of BAG3-mediated BACE1 stabilization alleviates neuropathology and memory deficits in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease
Abstract β-Site amyloid precursor protein (APP)–cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1) is the rate-limiting enzyme for amyloid-β (Aβ) generation and is considered promising drug target for Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The co-chaperone BAG3 (Bcl-2–associated athanogene 3) plays an important role in maintaining intracellular protein homeostasis by regulating heat shock protein 70 (HSP70). Here, we reported that BAG3 expression was significantly elevated in AD.

Emerging carbon dioxide hotspots in East Asia identified by a top-down inventory - Communications Earth & Environment
Abstract A high-resolution carbon dioxide emission inventory is essential for accurate carbon emission assessment and management. This study used a top-down spatial proxy model to develop a high-resolution (1 km) carbon dioxide emission inventory for East Asia from 2012 to 2021. Combining multiple data sources with geographically weighted regressions can improve the accuracy of the spatial distribution of sectors within carbon dioxide inventories.
APP lysine 612 lactylation ameliorates amyloid pathology and memory decline in Alzheimer’s disease
Abstract Posttranslational modification (PTM) of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) plays a critical role in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Recent evidence reveals that lactylation modification, as a novel PTM, is implicated in the occurrence and development of AD. However, whether and how APP lactylation contributes to both the pathogenesis and cognitive function in AD remains unknown. Here, we observed a reduction in APP lactylation in AD patients and AD model mice and cells.
