The gut-placental axis: microbial signals remodeling maternal-fetal immune tolerance
Abstract Pregnancy represents a unique immunological challenge requiring the establishment and maintenance of maternal-fetal immune tolerance. Emerging evidence demonstrates that the gut microbiota serves as a critical regulator of placental immune responses through systemic immune remodeling, constituting what is now recognized as the gut-placental immune axis.

The ZJU index as a novel predictive tool for post-stroke cognitive impairment: a prospective cohort study
Abstract The ZJU index serves as a composite metabolic biomarker associated with metabolic dysregulation. Its relationship with post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) remains unestablished. This study aims to elucidate the association between ZJU index and PSCI incidence. We enrolled 261 patients with acute mild ischemic stroke. PSCI was defined as Mini-Mental State Examination < 27 at the 6–12 months follow-up. We collected clinical and laboratory data and calculated the ZJU index at baseline.

Eleven elite youth rhythmic gymnasts completed three randomized crossover sessions: one set of six drop jump repetitions, one set of six jump squat repetitions, and a control condition.
Beyond extremophiles: conserved molecular toolkits enable the resilience of human-associated microbes to Martian stressors
Abstract The inevitable introduction of human-associated microbes on Mars poses significant planetary protection risks, yet the survival potential of non-extremophiles under surface conditions remains ill-defined. We evaluated the resilience of three common gut bacteria—Enterococcus faecalis, Serratia liquefaciens, and Escherichia coli—under simulated Martian stressors including low pressure, CO₂-rich atmosphere, and perchlorate exposure, applied individually and in combination.
Sex differences in the association of the CRP-TyG index with coronary artery disease and long-term mortality in MASLD
Abstract Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) increases cardiovascular risk, but non-invasive tools for risk stratification are limited. The C-reactive protein–triglyceride–glucose (CTI) index integrates metabolic and inflammatory pathways, but its value in MASLD is unclear. Methods: We examined the association between CTI and obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) in MASLD patients who underwent coronary computed tomography angiography.

D-pinitol extends the lifespan of Caenorhabditis elegans through integrated antioxidant defense, proteostasis, and autophagy signaling
Abstract Aging is driven in part by progressive deterioration of proteostasis and antioxidant defense, leading to cellular dysfunction and age-associated disease. The naturally occurring methylated inositol D-pinitol (DP) was reported to present metabolic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects, as well as to extend the lifespan of D. melanogaster and C. elegans through the insulin/IGF-1 signaling pathway. But the mechanism of DP on delay aging remains poorly understand.
Bisphenol A promotes tannins adsorption by increasing heterogeneity and hydrophilicity of porous carbons: evidence from site energy distribution
ABSTRACT The coexistence of phenolics is ubiquitous in real environments. However, competitive and complementary adsorptions between phenolics, including tannins and bisphenol A (BPA), remain unclear because of the different adsorption preferences of the adsorbent surface. In this study, novel H3PO4/NaOH modified porous carbons derived from corn were synthesized. The objective was to investigate the effect of the adsorption site availability on phenolics adsorption determined by pore size.
