Hollywood fears an AI future. China is already living it
Chen Yilong has racked up plenty of film and TV credits in his two decades as an actor, but with work getting scarcer he signed a contract in August to license the image of his face to a Chinese production studio. Chen’s role will be to sit in front of a video camera and make facial expressions at the prompt of a director. A neutral stare. An angry glare. A look of surprise.

Case Report: Successful treatment of mixed-phenotype acute leukemia with cauda equina syndrome as the initial manifestation
Abstract Background: Mixed-phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL) has a poor prognosis, and initial presentation with cauda equina syndrome (CES) is extremely rare. Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) may be the only potentially curative modality. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of MPAL presenting with CES at disease onset.
The landscape and regulatory potential of eccDNAs in mammalian preimplantation embryos
Abstract Extrachromosomal circular DNA is an emerging regulatory element implicated in genomic stability and gene regulation, yet its role in preimplantation development remains elusive. Here, we report the widespread presence of extrachromosomal circular DNA in preimplantation embryos, characterized by homologous junction sequences and originating from genomic regions enriched for active histone marks and RNA Polymerase II occupancy.
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy with angiogenesis inhibitor in early-stage breast cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract Background: Breast cancer, as a prevalent malignant tumor among women worldwide, has its malignant progression closely linked to angiogenesis mechanisms. Research indicates that combining anti-angiogenic drugs can promote tumor vascular normalization, thereby improving the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents and reversing the drug-resistant microenvironment. Some clinical studies have confirmed that such combination regimens can enhance pathological response rates (pCR).

Given that the extensive accumulation of lipid droplet is a distinctive feature of ccRCC, we consistently observed significant lipid accumulation in ccRCC tissue via oil red and H&E staining (Fig. S1A and B). In addition, lipidomics analysis confirmed that triglycerides (TG) and CE were the most prominently altered lipids in ccRCC tissue (Fig. 1A). Identification of circABCA1, a circular RNA implicated in lipid metabolism of ccRCC.
The efficacy of angiogenesis inhibitors combined with chemotherapy in advanced breast cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract Clinical trial registration: Globally, breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women. Despite treatment advances, 20–30% of early-stage patients progress to advanced disease, which remains largely incurable with a 5-year survival rate of only ~20%. Chemotherapy, the current mainstay, has reached a therapeutic plateau, with limited efficacy and potential pro-metastatic effects.

We utilized HaCaT to explore the effects of SLK and Ezrin knockdown, as well as the application of specific inhibitors on the organization of actin structures.
Using machine learning to dissect host kinases required for Leishmania internalization and development
Abstract The Leishmania life cycle alternates between promastigotes, found in the sandfly, and amastigotes, found in mammals. When an infected sandfly bites a host, promastigotes are engulfed by phagocytes (i.e., neutrophils, dendritic cells, and macrophages) to establish infection. When these phagocytes die or break down, amastigotes must be re-internalized to survive within the acidic phagolysosome and establish disease.

Host kinase regulation of Plasmodium vivax dormant and replicating liver stages
Abstract Upon transmission to the liver, Plasmodium vivax parasites form replicating schizonts, which continue to initiate blood-stage infection, or dormant hypnozoites that reactivate weeks to months after initial infection. P. vivax phenotypes in the field vary significantly, including the ratio of schizonts to hypnozoites formed and the frequency and timing of relapse. Evidence suggests that both parasite genetics and environmental factors underly this heterogeneity.
