Genetic improvement of eating and cooking quality of rice cultivars in southern China
Introduction High yield and excellent eating and cooking quality (ECQ) are two important goals of rice breeding. In recent years, with the improvement of living standards, consumers' demand for high-ECQ rice has grown and thus the breeding focus has changed from increasing yield to improving the grain ECQ (Li et al., 2022; Ren et al., 2023; Sreenivasulu et al., 2022). Therefore, cultivation of high-yielding rice cultivars with good ECQ is highly desirable.

Background Kidney cancer develops from the renal parenchyma, which ranks seventh among the most frequently diagnosed cancers in men and ninth in women (1). According to 2018 GLOBOCAN data, approximately 403,000 people developed kidney cancer, constituting 2.2% of all cancer diagnoses, and an estimated 175,098 people died from kidney cancer, which accounted for 1.8% of all cancer deaths globally (2). The incidence of kidney cancer is two-fold higher in men compared with women (3).
Association between homocysteine level and length of stay in patients with lower extremity atherosclerotic disease: a retrospective cohort study
Discussion We found that an Hcy level <22.63 µmol/L was associated with a prolonged LOS in patients with LEAD. There was a non-linear dose–response relationship with an inflection point at 22.63 µmol/L. To the best of our knowledge, the present study is the first to provide clear evidence of a non-linear association between Hcy level and LOS in patients with LEAD, and to detect the cut-off point of significance in the plot of threshold between them.

Visualization of gaseous iodine adsorption on single zeolitic imidazolate framework-90 particles - Nature Communications
Abstract Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) are very useful as high-capacity iodine (I2) adsorbents. The adsorption performance is usually probed by measuring a statistical average property over an entire sample consisting of a large number of ZIF particles, leaving the interparticle heterogeneity information among individuals. Here we report a dark-field microscopy (DFM) method to visualize gaseous I2 adsorption on single ZIF-90 particles in situ and in real time.
