Independent predictive value of the monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio for severe cardiopulmonary symptoms in high altitude polycythemia
Abstract Background: High altitude polycythemia (HAPC) is traditionally viewed as a homogeneous condition driven by absolute hypoxemia, while clinical symptom severity fails to correlate with hemoglobin levels. This study aimed to identify distinct clinical phenotypes in HAPC and evaluate novel predictive biomarkers. Methods: A total of 198 patients with HAPC were analyzed. Unsupervised K-means clustering was performed based on standardized absolute counts of five peripheral leukocyte subsets.
Prevalence and risk factors of small airway dysfunction among rural residents in Western China: a real-world cross-sectional study
Abstract Small airway dysfunction (SAD) is an early precursor to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma but underdiagnosed, especially in rural settings. We aimed to estimate SAD prevalence and identify its risk factors among adults ≥ 40 years in rural western China. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 11,398 rural residents aged ≥ 40 years in Mianyang, Sichuan, China.
Repurposed metformin–apigenin combination therapy for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: from integrative multi-omics discovery to in vivo validation
Abstract Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a chronic liver disease. Although recent drugs have been approved, the complex pathophysiology of MASH limits monotherapy efficacy and generates considerable inter-patient heterogeneity. The purpose of this research was to identify new molecular targets and develop a rational combination therapeutic approach for MASH.
Fibrinogen–Bmal1 signaling as a therapeutic target to limit aortic dissection by preserving VSMC contractility
Abstract Aortic dissection (AD) is a life-threatening vascular disease with a high mortality rate. Surgery is essential in the acute phase but carries significant risks, whereas elective surgery during the chronic phase yields better outcomes. However, no pharmacological therapy has been proven effective in slowing AD progression.

A bidirectional association between school environmental factors and physical activity habit formation among Chinese urban adolescents: a cross-lagged panel model
Abstract Background: School environment is considered one of the important external factors that affect the formation of physical activity habits among teenagers, and its mechanism of action and time effect still require verification through longitudinal evidence. Methods: In this survey, junior and senior high school students in Shanghai were selected as samples. A three-time point tracking design was adopted to obtain valid questionnaires totaling 1,235.

Molecular basis of inhibition of the amino acid transporter B0AT1 (SLC6A19) - Nature Communications
Abstract The epithelial neutral amino acid transporter B0AT1 (SLC6A19) is the major transporter for the absorption of neutral amino acids in the intestine and their reabsorption in the kidney. Mouse models have demonstrated that lack of B0AT1 can normalize elevated plasma amino acids in rare disorders of amino acid metabolism such as phenylketonuria and urea-cycle disorders, implying a pharmacological approach for their treatment.
In situ post-modification of substoichiometric 2D conjugated MOFs to boost ethylene selectivity in electrocatalytic CO2 reduction
In situ post-modification of substoichiometric 2D conjugated MOFs to boost ethylene selectivity in electrocatalytic CO2 reduction 2D conjugated MOFs (2D c-MOFs) have attracted significant interest in electrocatalysis due to their intrinsic electrical conductivity. Their catalytic performance heavily relied on the metal centers and structures of highly fused polyaromatic hydrocarbon ligands.

Constructing quasi‐amorphous cobalt oxyhydroxide nanowires with synergy of anion and cation via ion exchange reconstruction for large-current-density oxygen generation - ScienceDirect
Electrochemical water electrolysis provides an effective and facile route to supply green and clean hydrogen fuel in the emerging sustainable energy economy [1], [2], [3]. In this process, the complicated four-electron transfer of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) dominates the primary power consumption, limiting the efficiency of whole water electrolysis [4], [5]. Consequently, it is imperative to exploit highly efficient catalysts with rapid OER dynamics and low energy dissipation [6], [7].

Cobalt(II) mediated electro-oxidation of toluene and its derivatives
Benzaldehyde, benzoic acid, and their derivatives are pivotal chemicals with significant utilities in many fields such as dyeing, foodstuff, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. The primary synthetic approach for these substances is the oxidation of corresponding substituted toluene, with the most commonly used methods of liquid-phase oxidation [1] as shown in Scheme 1a.
Large-area, flexible bimetallic phosphorus-based electrodes for prolong-stable industrial grade overall seawater splitting
Hydrogen (H2) has emerged as the most attractive option due to its high energy density and environmentally friendly properties [1]. Electrolysis of water, which enables carbon-free hydrogen production, holds immense potential for various applications [2]. It is expected to achieve green and sustainable development through electrolysis of water combined with renewable energy such as wind and solar power [3].

Tuning Morphology and Electronic Structure of Cobalt Metaphosphate Via Vanadium‐Doping for Efficient Water and Urea Splitting
1 Introduction Hydrogen is considered one of the most promising clean energy sources in the future due to its high gravimetric energy density and zero carbon emissions.[1] Compared to fossil fuel combustion and steam reforming, electrocatalytic water splitting is a more environmentally friendly and sustainable approach for preparing green hydrogen.[2] However, the sluggish kinetics of hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in cathode and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in anode severely hamper the...

Enhancement of Visible‐Light‐Driven Hydrogen Evolution Activity of 2D π‐Conjugated Bipyridine‐Based Covalent Organic Frameworks via Post‐Protonation
Graphical Abstract The introduction of bipyridine motifs in the 2D conjugated covalent organic framework, 2D-c-COF, creates dedicated photoactive sites. Through a simple post-protonation strategy, the photo-generated electron–hole separation of 2D-c-COF was significantly enhanced and a hydrophilic pore channel was generated, which synergically lead to a significant improvement in photocatalytic hydrogen production.
