An oral-origin Streptococcus salivarius associated with schizophrenia reshapes intestinal T-cell immunity and promotes IL-17A-dominated inflammation
Abstract Background: Emerging evidence suggests that oral microbial dysbiosis contributes to neuropsychiatric disorders through microbiome–immune interactions. We previously identified an oral-origin Streptococcus salivarius enriched in individuals with schizophrenia (SCZ) and demonstrated its ability to become enriched in the intestine after oral administration. However, whether this disease-associated bacterium remodels host adaptive immunity remains unclear.
The Effects of Narrativized Interfaces on Emotional Arousal, Aesthetic Experience, and Pleasure in VR Rhythm Games
Abstract Virtual Reality (VR) rhythm games create an immersive experience through the multisensory alignment of music, visuals, and movement. Within this context, narrativized interface design has emerged as a key approach to enhancing user experience. Although narrativized interfaces are increasingly used, their effects on emotional arousal, aesthetic experience, and pleasure, as well as the interrelations among these dimensions, remain underexplored.

A labile sulfur ligand in a three-cysteine-coordinated [2Fe−2S] cluster mediates sulfide sensing in NreB
Abstract Iron-sulfur clusters are versatile protein cofactors involved in diverse biological processes, but their role in hydrogen sulfide/hydrosulfide (H2S/HS-) sensing remains largely unexplored. Here, we report that the Bacillus licheniformis sensor kinase NreB contains an unusual [2Fe-2S] cluster within its PAS domain. A 1.52-Å crystal structure reveals a distinct coordination geometry where three conserved cysteine residues and a non-cysteinyl sulfur ligand stabilize the cluster.

Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound promotes peripheral nerve regeneration by alleviating Schwann cells pyroptosis
Abstract Peripheral nerve injury (PNI), a common clinical condition, heavily relies on the functional condition of Schwann cells (SCs) for effective repair. Emerging evidence shows that excessive pyroptosis of SCs hinders neural regeneration. Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS), a non-invasive physical therapy, shows potential in tissue repair; however, its role in regulating SCs pyroptosis remains unclear.
Caffeine inhibited the hyperoxia-induced A2AR-ERK/p38 MAPK-IL-8 pathway in type II alveolar epithelial cells to suppress NETs formation in bronchopulmonary dysplasia
Abstract To investigate how caffeine inhibited hyperoxia-induced NET formation and protected against bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). The impact of caffeine on NETs secretion in neutrophils triggered by hyperoxia-induced A549 cells was examined. The role of the IL-8/CXCR2 axis in inducing NETs was evaluated using IL-8 and anti-CXCR2 antibody. The impact of caffeine on ERK/p38 MAPK signaling induced by hyperoxia was explored.

Atroposelective organocatalytic nucleophilic aromatic substitution for C–O bond construction
Abstract The development of catalytic asymmetric strategies for directly constructing axially chiral diaryl ethers presents a substantial challenge owing to the inherent flexibility of the C–O bond and sterically congested substitution patterns that typically suppress both reactivity and enantioselectivity. Here we report an organocatalytic C–O bond-forming reaction that enables the facile synthesis of these chiral scaffolds.

Tumour specific HORMAD1 expression perturbs mitotic arrest and drives sensitivity to mitotic kinase inhibitors
|
Abstract HORMAD1 expression is usually restricted to germ-line cells but is also aberrantly expressed in 60% of triple-negative breast cancers (TNBCs), where it is bi-modally expressed and associated with genomic instability. Here, we show that out-of-context HORMAD1 expression in mitotic cells perturbs mitotic arrest and generates aneuploidy.
