Suspending this campaign, not leaving the fight
Today, I’m announcing that I am suspending my campaign for United States Senate. And I’m doing it with a deep, deep sense of gratitude. For our thousands of volunteers across the great state of Michigan — so many of you who told me this campaign was what inspired you to get involved for the very first time.
Your Phone Is the New Cigarette (And It’s Worse) 📱🚬😬
If you have a smart phone, you know how addictive it can be. Ten minutes of scrolling Instagram or TikTok or X turns into an hour. Or two. We’ve all been there. And we all recognize that something needs to change — especially to protect our kids, who are watching their childhoods disappear into a screen. Mallory McMorrow, a Michigan state Senator running for the open U.S. Senate seat this year, is trying to lead that charge for change.

Journalists taking Trump at face value are too gullible for words
Gullible journalism helped Trump turn Project 2025 into a living nightmare for America, writes Dr Victoria Fielding. WHEN U.S. PRESIDENT Donald Trump claimed during the 2024 election campaign that he wasn’t interested in the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 agenda, it would have taken an astounding level of gullibility to accept his claims at face value.
Don’t Let Anyone Tell You That You Have to Settle
Guest article by Mallory McMorrow, Democratic Senate Majority Whip of the Michigan State Senate and Candidate for United States Senate. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about exhaustion. Not the kind you feel after a long day at work, but the bone-deep weariness that comes from watching our politics spiral into dysfunction while real people struggle to get by. You know the feeling.
"I'm just somebody who's trying to give a shit and make a difference"
A few weeks back, Mallory McMorrow was in Muskegon, Michigan at a plumber’s training facility. McMorrow, a Democrat running for the open U.S. Senate seat in the Wolverine State, asked to meet not with the master plumbers and big bosses but with the apprentices — to hear how younger people view politics and the parties.
McMorrow, Damoose: We need a roadmap for Michigan's future that actually works
Mallory McMorrow and John Damoose The Detroit News View Comments Here's a sobering fact: In the 1980s, five of the top 10 metro regions in America for median household income were in Michigan. Today? Zero. Michigan now ranks 39th in income per capita out of 50 states. And if current trends continue, according to Michigan Future, we'll be the 48th poorest state by 2045. Meanwhile, our population has grown just 8.8% since 1980, compared to 46.3% nationwide.
McMorrow: Red flag law is saving lives
I will never forget the devastated parents I met with after the Oxford High School and Michigan State shootings. Their lives were shattered. They pleaded with us to take action to prevent future tragedies. I was haunted by the thought of my daughter going to school and never coming home or being hurt or killed in any of the thousands of instances of senseless gun violence that occur every day in our communities that never make news headlines.
Mallory McMorrow and Tracy Alloway: A Self-Inflicted Crisis
The market plunge is just pure Trump chaos, and perfectly matches his record as a businessman. From his numerous bankruptcies and many failures—including his airline, his casinos, his university, his water, and his steaks—he's been running one long con. And the supposedly smart people who should have known better put him back in power, somehow thinking he would never do something like destroy global trade.

Michigan has a $9 billion surplus. What’s a transformative way to use it?
New numbers are in and Michigan has a huge budget surplus. “It is an exciting and a daunting number. Nine billion dollars. The Work of Democracy Is Not Only a Group Endeavor
On the morning of March 12, 2020, I sat in a legislative committee room in Lansing, Michigan, waiting for my colleagues to show up. I pulled my phone open to scroll through news headlines when one in particular caught my eye. I rolled my chair back and turned to Molly, my chief of staff, sitting directly behind me. “Look at this.” I pointed to the headline. “That can’t be real,” Molly gasped. “Is it real?” “Looks like the movie Contagion,” I said as I wheeled back to the committee table.

McMorrow and Wert: Raising kids or having a career doesn't have to be a binary choice for women. Here's how to change that.
Even in the best of times, having your first child is an exercise in learning how to juggle — schedules, responsibilities, and lots of bottles and burp cloths. But having a first child in the midst of a pandemic has added a whole new layer of complexity. We had concerns about making it all work even pre-pandemic.

Protesters at the Michigan Capitol can't just play politics with a pandemic or we'll all lose
You may have seen photos and videos of heavily armed men with large rifles at our state Capitol in Lansing, Michigan, on Thursday, some screaming in the faces of state police officers wearing simple cloth surgical masks, and wonder what in the world is happening in Michigan. I don’t blame you.

Mallory McMorrow | Detroit Free Press | 4:15 pm EDT April 3, 2020 On Tuesday, the state House and Senate are set to reconvene in Lansing to vote on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s request to extend the state of emergency declaration in the face of the worsening coronavirus pandemic. If there was ever a time to develop and implement a contingency plan to allow the Legislature to function without gathering in-person, it's now.

These are unprecedented times. The state of Michigan, the country, and the rest of the world are facing a global pandemic, and as such, public health experts recommend equally unprecedented action for us to stop the spread of this deadly virus. What’s unique about this challenge, though, is that every one of us can take real action to save lives. We all have a role to play, and together, we will get through this.
This woody wagon is the best Fox-body Mustang never built
As we continue the march toward the Ford Mustang's 50th anniversary and the eventual next-gen car, let's continue our look back into the Ford archives at the Mustangs that never earned the badge. In 1975, Ford designers began working on the third-generation Mustang, and it was clear after the Mustang II that they were in those awkward teen years where they were trying to figure themselves out.
It's time for smarter incentives in Michigan
"This is just one tool in the toolbox." This is the go-to refrain you'll hear from business groups, lobbyists, and legislators alike when it comes to tax incentive programs like Good Jobs for Michigan, which is set to expire on Dec. 31 if the legislature doesn't vote to either extend or eliminate the sunset. Good Jobs for Michigan is a tax incentive program that was enacted in 2017 to either encourage expansion in existing Michigan companies, or to attract new companies to Michigan.
