Spontaneous splenic rupture in a patient with paratyphoid a fever: a case report and literature review
Abstract Background: Enteric fever, including both typhoid and paratyphoid fevers, is associated with a significant burden of morbidity and mortality in high-epidemic countries. However, as its incidence has declined in most countries, early diagnosis of its complications has become a clinical challenge. Spontaneous splenic rupture (SSR) is a rare but dangerous complication of typhoid fever, and its occurrence in patients with paratyphoid fever remains poorly understood.
Operando tracking of ion kinetics and state-of-charge via multiresonant fiber-optic grating sensors in sodium-ion batteries
Abstract Ion transport within the sub-micron diffusion layer at the electrode–electrolyte interface governs battery function, yet probing its rapid, confined dynamics under operating conditions remains a challenge. Here, we introduce a compact, highly sensitive multiresonant fiber-optic grating sensor that monitors these processes operando in sodium-ion batteries without interfering with their operation.

Dissolved Organic Matter Acting as a Microbial Photosensitizer Drives Photoelectrotrophic Denitrification
The biogeochemical fates of dissolved organic matter (DOM) show important environmental significance in aqueous ecosystems. However, the current understanding of the trophic relationship between DOM and microorganisms limits the ability of DOM to serve as a heterotrophic substrate or electron shuttle for microorganisms. In this work, we provide the first evidence of photoelectrophy, a new trophic linkage, that occurs between DOM and nonphototrophic microorganisms.
