Trump’s Fallout with Kristi Noem Over Lewandowski Allegations
Former President Donald Trump’s apparent frustration with South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem reportedly escalated following her response to allegations about an inappropriate relationship with Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former campaign manager. According to sources cited by the New York Post, Noem’s handling of the situation was the “final straw” in a series of tensions between the former President and the governor.
Trump's Mysterious Neck Rash Sparks Health Worries
President Donald Trump has recently been seen with a noticeable on his neck rash, prompting speculation and questions from the media and the public about his health. Despite widespread curiosity, the medical professionals attending to Trump have refrained from offering specific information regarding the cause or prognosis of the rash.
Bipartisan Congress Moves to Limit Trump’s Iran War Powers
A bipartisan Congress is intensifying efforts to curb President Donald Trump’s authority to use military force against Iran. Following recent joint U.S.-Israeli strikes, lawmakers from both parties are pushing for immediate votes on war powers resolutions, aiming to assert congressional oversight on military engagements in the Middle East. Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) are leading these initiatives.
Trump Praises Texas GOP Senate Hopefuls Without Endorsing
Former President Donald Trump addressed a crowd in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Friday, acknowledging the three Republican candidates vying for a U.S. Senate seat. While all three candidates were present, Trump refrained from issuing an endorsement in the primary race, opting instead for individual recognition. The event drew attention from political observers keen to see if Trump would signal a preference in the competitive Republican primary.
Trump's Texas Trip: A Power Play in the Senate Primary
President Trump’s visit to Corpus Christi today is about more than just energy exports. While the official purpose of his speech at the Port of Corpus Christi is to tout his economic policies, the timing of the trip – just days before the Texas Senate Republican primary – suggests a deeper political game at play.

The West must strike now, and collapse the Iranian regime
Hidden from many in the West is the internal chaos caused by yesterday’s events in Iran. The past 24 hours have exposed the vulnerability of the clerical regime, and for the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – who rules with absolute power – this will be the main takeaway from yesterday’s helicopter crash and the death of president Ebrahim Raisi. The 85-year-old ayatollah will surely view the crash that killed Raisi as a “test-run” for his own death and succession.
Sen. Joe Lieberman, National Treasure Original
Many of the remembrances of Sen. Joe Lieberman, who passed away last week, have highlighted his legacy as one of the great post-Cold War statesmen or the fact he was the first Jewish-American to be nominated by a major political party as vice president of the United States. Those career achievements are worth celebrating, to be sure.

Top Comments: Cheers & Jeers Netroots Nation 2023 edition
A quick look at the Chicago 2023 Netroots Nation, after-the-jump …. It turned out to be a fine Netroots (I’ve been to 2/3 of the in-person events) … but it sure didn’t start-off that way. My non-stop flight to Chicago on Wednesday of last week … was cancelled due to T-storms (and later, possible tornadoes) in the Windy City.
Introducing ConservativeHome's new Chief Executive: Angus Parsad-Wyatt
It’s three years since I became ConservativeHome’s first ever Chief Executive, taking on the leadership of the company. Three extremely busy years, in which we’ve navigated a pandemic, hosted a fully online Party Conference, launched new activities like our ConservativeHome Live webinars and our half-day policy conferences, and redesigned and rebuilt the site itself. I’m pleased to say that ConservativeHome is in robust good health – as a business and as a site.

The terrible truth about Banks and Cadwalladr. They need each other.
Paul Goodman writes: Arron Banks, the former UKIP donor, has lost his libel case against Carole Cadwalladr, the Observer journalist. The definitive article on the relationship between these best of enemies was written by Mark Wallace on ConservativeHome. Mark wrote in the wake of a Cadwalladr interview with Banks for the Observer. The piece was called “Arron Banks and The Observer have a shared interest in making Brexit all about him.” Here it is below.

The last thing we need is the police or the courts trying to define political truth
Business leaders have a long history of lamenting that politics should be run more like business. Indeed, a few of them have even tried to demonstrate the ease with which things could work if only they were put in charge by crossing over into the political field. Notably, those who have tried have almost all failed. There’s a reason for this – politics is a different market.
inlooking #003: Time passes
photo by Jordan Holmbeck, via Unsplash I like this image because it’s obscure—that is, covered over > concealed > clouded > unclear. It is a lighthouse out of reach—which feels right to me because I’ve lately been re-reading Virginia Woolf’s astonishing, masterful novel To the Lighthouse—which I’ll also be teaching in September. See below for details.
We were right - there was no Blukip. No Purple Momentum. No mass infiltration of the Conservatives.
Mark Wallace said that allegations that the Conservatives had been infiltrated on a mass scale by non-Conservative Brexiteers were baseless. He was right. See the above – and here’s a link to Tim Bale’s Twitter thread. We reproduce below the original text of his article on this site of February 22 2019. In recent weeks, allegations have grown that something dark is afoot among the Conservative grassroots.
New event: 'Back to Business - reopening international travel', with Grant Shapps
We are very pleased to invite you to ConservativeHome’s next live online event, in which our special guest Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Transport, will be joined by a distinguished panel for this timely discussion. Following the recent publication of the Global Travel Taskforce report, there are a host of crucial questions to explore, from the return of tourism and business travel, to the reunification of families separated by the pandemic. When and how can international travel reopen?

We’re very pleased to announce that, following the success of our online fringe events during last year’s Conservative Party Conference, ConservativeHome will be putting on a programme of free, online fringe events during the Conservative Party’s Spring Conference, on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th March. Click here to see details of our full line-up of speakers and topics.
Comments are back online - with a new system
As per our note earlier in the week, the provider of our old comments system suffered a serious technical failure which was beyond our control, leading to the comments on ConservativeHome going offline. Our apologies for the disruption, and thank you to readers for your patience as we’ve worked to find a solution to the problem. We’re pleased to say that comments are now working again, as you will be able to see below this post.
Our next live event: Truss on 'Global Britain - navigating the post-Brexit world'
We are very pleased to invite you to ConservativeHome’s next free online event: a timely discussion on “Global Britain – navigating the post-Brexit world“.
Why did the BBC broadcast untrue claims about ConservativeHome?
This morning, on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Michael Burleigh – the eminent historian of the Third Reich – was introduced for a discussion of the future of Trumpism after Trump. Out of the blue, he announced he didn’t really want to talk about that, and launched instead into an exposition of a somewhat peculiar personal theory about British politics. A hijack, he claimed, had taken place in the UK via a three-pronged assault identical to that seen in America.
ConservativeHome presents 'The North's Economic Recovery - an evening with the NRG'
Given that it is a year on from 2019’s stunning electoral gains in the former Red Wall, our next live online event is particularly timely. We hope you’ll join us for The North’s Economic Recovery – an evening with the NRG. Our editor, Paul Goodman, will be joined by a panel of three prominent MPs from the Northern Research Group – Jake Berry MP, Dehenna Davison MP and John Stevenson MP – at 6pm on Thursday 17th December, via Zoom.
Kate Hoey joins us for the next episode of ConservativeHome Live
We are pleased to invite you to take part in the next instalment of our ConservativeHome Live interview series, for which we will be joined by yet another very special guest: Kate Hoey.

Today on the ConservativeHome online fringe: Truss on trade, Donelan on universities, Zahawi on the digital revolution
Welcome to Day Two of the ConservativeHome online fringe programme. After a stonking Day One, that you can read about in Sunday’s papers, we’re back with six more events ranging from trade to universities, from electric cars to global education, from driving productivity to medical cannabis innovation. NB today’s events will be broadcast on the Party Conference site *and* on Zoom – so anyone without access to the former can view at the latter.

And we’re off! Welcome to Day One of our online Party Conference fringe programme. Jacob Rees-Mogg joins our conference fringe line-up - register now for the Moggcast LIVE
I’m very pleased to announce a very special new addition to our Party Conference online fringe programme: Jacob Rees-Mogg will be joining us for a live episode of the Moggcast. Paul Goodman, ConservativeHome’s Editor, will be interviewing Jacob in front of a live audience from 7pm-8pm on Tuesday 6th October, the final day of the Conservative Party Conference. This event will take place over Zoom, like our monthly ConservativeHome Live series.
Presenting ConservativeHome's online Party Conference fringe events
Many ConservativeHome readers will be familiar with our annual programme of fringe events at the Conservative Party Conference. Every year the ConHome marquee is full to bursting with audiences who come to hear a wide range of ministers, MPs, experts and commentators discuss the big issues of the day. People often tell us that they spend more time at our events than in the actual conference hall, which is praise indeed.
Tune in to our next ConservativeHome Live event - with special guest Katharine Birbalsingh
I’m pleased to say we have a great lineup of guests for our ConservativeHome Live events this Autumn. I will be interviewing our next special guest, Free School pioneer Katharine Birbalsingh, next week – at 7pm on Wednesday 9th September. As Headmistress and co-founder of the Michaela Community School in Wembley, Katharine is a fearless champion of education as a force to change lives for the better – and an equally fearless challenger of the misguided orthodoxies that have stood in its way.
The Conservative Party should give a warm welcome to Hong Kongers arriving in the UK
It was belated, following decades of inaction and errors on Hong Kong, but the British government did the right thing when Dominic Raab offered Hong Kongers sanctuary in this country in the face of China’s hijack of the city. A huge 85 per cent of Conservative Party members agreed with the Foreign Secretary’s decision – a remarkably clear majority. And so, Hong Kongers who have taken the agonising decision to leave their homes are starting to arrive in the UK.
TONIGHT: ConservativeHome Live - in conversation with Matthew Elliott
There’s still time to register for your free ticket to take part in our next ConservativeHome Live interview, which takes place at 7pm tonight. I’ll be speaking to Matthew Elliott – co-founder of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, chief executive of Vote Leave, and one of the UK’s most successful political strategists – about the emerging faultlines and flashpoints in British politics, the strategic challenges facing the Government and, of course, the state of play on Brexit.
Our survey. How Unionist are Conservative Party members?
In any given online discussion about Tory policy towards the Union, it is an iron law of the internet that someone will eventually pop up with a reminder that the official name of the Conservative Party is the Conservative and Unionist Party. That’s true, of course, but it isn’t a determinist fact that a party’s name dictates what its members – or indeed its leadership – actually think.
Commentary: Infrastructure projects need funding now more than ever
I've heard the same refrain from both friends and strangers, over and over, ever since the pandemic hit: "COVID has upended life as I know it. But I've found peace along the Detroit Riverfront." Some have started running along the river or the Dequindre Cut. Some have taken up fishing on the banks. Others have found refuge in the quiet solitude under a shade tree at Gabriel Richard Park.
FREE ConservativeHome Live event with Daniel Hannan on the future of freedom
Following our successful inaugural ConservativeHome Live event last month, I am delighted to announce that the second event in the series will feature Daniel Hannan – author, campaigner and ConservativeHome columnist. Daniel and I will be discussing The Future of Freedom in front of a live Zoom audience at 7pm on Wednesday 15th July.
New candidates selected in Buckingham, Newport, Brecon, Workington, Chester and Warrington
With an election bound to happen at some point, candidate selections continue apace. Most famously, Buckingham selected its first Conservative candidate in many years yesterday – with local voters (and the rest of us, let’s be honest) looking forward to the constituency getting a normal MP once more, after the Speaker belatedly departs. But there have also been recent selections in key seats in Wales and the North West of England.
Police chiefs have unwisely emboldened the mob
What on earth are the police doing in their response to the recent spate of mob violence and vandalism? I don’t mean the rank and file officers particularly, rather the commanders who issue their orders. Time and again in recent days they have succeeded in sending out messages that undermine rather than reinforce public order.
Join us for our first ever ConservativeHome Live online event with Matt Ridley
I’m very pleased to announce a new venture for our site: ConservativeHome Live, a series of online events in which our readers will get the chance to hear from and put their questions to a range of the leading thinkers, politicians, campaigners and writers in the Conservative movement. In our first event we will be joined by Matt Ridley – best-selling science writer, prominent Leave campaigner, Conservative peer, newspaper columnist and author of the forthcoming new book How Innovation Works.

The Conservative Party suspends all non-digital campaigning, and directs activists to support the vulnerable
Further to the postponement of the local elections, and the cancellation of the Tory Spring Forum, the Conservative Party has now suspended all “face to face” campaigning, citing its wish to “keep people safe”. The message – sent out by the Conservative Councillors’ Association this evening – specifies that “face to face campaigning…includes literature delivery”, essentially restricting anything other than “digital communication methods”.
Mark Wallace: How Eurosceptics survived the wilderness years, and returned to win the day
Looking at the full story of Brexit, in the longer sweep of modern history, there are two really important achievements which made it possible. And, perhaps unusually, they operated in tension with one another. The first is the simple fact of the survival of the Eurosceptic or anti-EU movement at all.
Maximum flexibility - the Government's starting assumption in post-Brexit negotiations
As we reach that point in January when it definitely is too late to say “Happy New Year” any more, and the one-month mark since the election has rolled by, it seems a natural moment to explore where the new Government goes from here on its most pressing issue. What’s next on the Brexit front? First, there’s the question of fulfilling that iconic pledge: Get Brexit Done.
HS2's financial case gets weaker and weaker - but has its political justification held up any better?
Those think-tanks and analysts who were publicly sceptical of HS2’s over-optimistic budget early on were not thanked for questioning the official figures. In 2013, the Institute of Economic Affairs estimated the true cost to be around £80 billion. In 2017, the TaxPayers’ Alliance forecast a low-range bill of £90.8 billion. Their reward was for various figures in Government, and supposed specialists in the sector, to pooh-pooh these concerns.
Four former Brexit Party MEPs - including Rees-Mogg - join the Conservative Party
Readers will remember that during the election campaign, a key moment in the Tory squeeze on the Brexit Party came when four prominent MEPs resigned from Nigel Farage’s group to urge Brexireers to vote Conservative. At the time, the four – Annunziata Rees-Mogg, Lance Forman, Lucy Harris and John Longworth – opted to become independents. Pleasingly, it has emerged today that all four have now chosen to join the Conservative Party.
