Justin Bonomo and Matt Glantz Clash on Twitter During WPT World Championship
08:32 20 Dec Justin Bonomo and Matt Glantz have clashed on Twitter over the latter’s comments about a hand “ZeeJustin” played. Glantz described Bonomo as “pink hair guy,” clearly a mild jibe at one of the most successful poker players in history. We haven’t seen much history between these two but Bonomo wasn’t in the mood to turn the other cheek and fired back with some sarcastic pots of his own.

Covering live poker tournaments for a living affords me the opportunity to see countless thousands of hands played out, many of which offer interesting and potentially valuable insights into how players — both amateurs and professionals — play the game. In this ongoing series, I'll highlight hands I've seen at the tournaments I've covered and see if we can glean anything useful from them.

Mixed Games: Do They Belong in Poker's Past or Present?
Once upon a time, due to ESPN and the World Series of Poker, non-Hold'em games got their share of attention. Those times are long gone, and while some poker tours offer a slate of smaller buy-in non-Hold'em events as part of their series, you'll be hard-pressed to find stakes big enough to bring out the big names that we now only see during the WSOP.

Winning, Losing, and Keeping Score in Poker
The new year is well underway. It's time to look to the future, set goals, and make resolutions. It's also a time to reflect, take stock, look back, and see how we did. Regarding those two reasonable tasks, I'd like to ask you a question to start things off. Are you a winner at poker? Seems simple enough. You may want to define your terms before you answer. What does it mean to be a winner? If you win one hand of poker during the year, does that make you a winner?

Playing a Flush Draw Aggressively From Out of Position
This week's hand comes from early in a tournament — an example of defending the big blind when deep-stacked with a couple of suited cards, then negotiating what to do after flopping a desired flush draw. The blinds were 25/50, and the hand started with a young player raising to 125 on the button. It folded to me in the big blind where like the raiser I had about 9,000 to start where I looked down at .

In a milestone moment for shared liquidity platforms in Europe, and potentially worldwide, PokerStars has launched its French-Spanish site with combined player pools from both countries. Taking Heat With Pocket Aces in a Hand of 100NL 6-Max Zoom
There will be times in no-limit hold'em when you realize that, by dint of circumstances possibly outside of your control, it is hard for you to have the nuts. Yet your opponent could be bluffing. How, then, do you decide when to call with a bluff-catcher? It depends, of course. It all started so well for small blind in this hand. In a game of 100NL six-handed Zoom ($0.50/$1), he was sitting pretty, having built a stack of $370, and had just been dealt in the small blind.

When heads-up play began, Jaffe was the overwhelming chip leader and continued to increase his lead. With 180 big blinds in play, Kruk held just 7 of them at one point.

PN Blog: A Busy Year of Poker Comes to an End
Exactly one year ago when 2017 had just started, I had no idea what would happen as no live event coverage was confirmed yet and the Aussie Millions was a no-go due to budget reasons. What followed turned into the busiest year since turning my work focus almost entirely on live poker reporting, including some surprise trips and almost two-thirds of the year spent away from home.

But when you talk to this young man, you get the sense that nothing in this world is going to get him down. His confidence is overwhelming — it makes you believe in every word he says. According to his mother, Merri Perry, Sean is "the Golden child" — "an amazing kid." Okay, she’s a bit biased. Of course any mom would say that about her prized child.

Getting Comfortable With Wider Ranges: Big Blind Play
There is a popular trend developing in the poker world. People are starting to realize they should defend more often against small raises with a wider range of hands. I've been told that I fold too much, so finally I've started calling and three-betting with a wider range from the blinds and the button when facing frequent opens from aggressive players. Being a tight-passive, small stakes player, I wasn't easily convinced to get outside of my comfort zone, but I'm glad I did.
