Mother pleads for return of daughter’s stolen ashes
OWEGO, N.Y. (WBNG/Gray News) - A New York mother is asking for the community’s help after her daughter’s ashes were stolen from a storage unit last month. Danielle Heidrich lost her daughter in 2017 and had her remains placed in a small heart-shaped urn. Last month, the urn was among several items stolen from her storage units. “The pain of discovering that my baby girl, the only thing that I have of her, is gone, was definitely beyond heartbreaking,” Heidrich said.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell agrees on a 4-year contract extension
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has agreed on a four-year contract extension that runs through the 2030 league season, ending on March 31, 2031. The NFL’s Compensation Committee notified the full ownership of the agreement on Sunday. In a memo sent to owners that was obtained by The Associated Press, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said: “We believe we are very fortunate to have Roger at the helm for the next four years.” Kraft is the chairman of the league’s compensation committee.

DOJ agrees to $11M settlement after soldier’s baby suffers permanent brain injury at Fort Campbell hospital
FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (WSMV/Gray News) - The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has agreed to pay $11 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the family of a Fort Campbell soldier whose daughter suffered a permanent brain injury during delivery at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. The lawsuit was filed in Nashville federal court by the family. The family alleged that medical providers failed to respond to hours of fetal distress during the child’s birth on Sept. 11, 2021.
Explosion of fireworks in central Mexico kills at least 10 dead, injures 64 people
TEMASCALCINGO, Mexico (AP) — Pyrotechnic material exploded during the festival for a patron saint in a town in Mexico State, collapsing a wall, killing at least 10 people and injuring another 64, Mexican authorities said. The explosion occurred Saturday night next to the Nuestra Señora de la Luz church in Temascalcingo, a municipality in central Mexico with 66,000 residents. Hundreds of them were preparing to watch a fireworks display that is part of a religious festival when the blast occurred.
