Nekoosa man pleads no contest, found guilty of reckless homicide in father’s death

NEKOOSA, Wis. (WSAW) - A plea and sentencing hearing was scheduled Thursday morning for a 28-year-old man accused of killing his father. In court, Jason Tourtillott pleaded no contest to reckless homicide as part of an agreement with prosecutors in the death of Thomas Tourtillott, 58. He was previously charged with first-degree murder. The judge then found him guilty. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for October. Thomas Tourtillott died on July 22, 2021.

Business 51 reconstruction to begin July 6; full closure starts July 8 in Stage 1

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) - The first stage of Stevens Point’s Business 51 reconstruction project is set to begin Monday. A “hard closure” for Stage 1 is expected to take effect Wednesday, July 8. Work is anticipated to wrap up by mid-August. Explainer for Stevens Point road construction According to a news release from the city, stage 1 includes a full road closure of Business 51 from Briggs Street to about 250 feet north of Franklin Street.
