OMAHA, Neb. - The College World Series has returned to Omaha, and with it, a growing demand for private baseball training among young athletes in the area. At 7:30 on a Wednesday morning, kids are already training, skipping sleep-ins to work on their skills. Former minor league pitcher Kyle Kubat, who owns K-Train Pitching in Elkhorn, said, "We do everything from hitting, pitching, infield stuff." Kubat noted that more athletes are training year-round, prompting him to expand his facility.

There is new life inside an old Catholic school. St. Joan of Arc near 74th and Hascall closed it's school last year. The building is back open now as the Dual Language Academy. Every morning, Principal Angie Gonzales Smith greets all of her students in Spanish, even though 70% of the students are native English-speaking. Fremont Lakes upgrades include campsite improvements
This year, hundreds of thousands of people will visit the Fremont Lakes Recreation Area. Some of them are guests from out of state. "Fremont Lakes ranks in the top five most visited areas that we have in our 76 area state park system," Greg Wagner, with Nebraska Game and Parks, said. He says camping at Fremont Lakes is especially popular because of the layout. "We have 20 sandpit lakes there, and around those sandpit lakes, we have camping," Wagner said.
