DETROIT, Mich. (WWJ) - Perfect Pair was founded by a University of Michigan student in 2020 to curb social isolation during the pandemic. Emily Lerner came up with the idea to pair students with older adults living in assisted living facilities in the Ann Arbor area. They meet weekly, and many have forged lasting friendships over the years. Since then, Perfect Pair has expanded to 35 campuses in 23 states and more than 40 "pairs" meet on a regular basis.
