Siena poll: Hochul leads Blakeman 52-32% in New York governor race

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (WNYT) — A new Siena poll said Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul’s ratings improved slightly as voters overwhelmingly pointed to cost of living as New York’s top issue. The Siena University poll, released June 25, found Hochul’s favorability at 43-44% and her job approval at 53-42%, both up from April. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s favorability also improved to 25-21%, and Hochul’s head-to-head lead over him grew to 52-32% from 49-33%.

Police: Motorcycle crossed into wrong lane in Gallatin, killing the rider

GALLATIN, N.Y. (WNYT) — State Police said a Red Hook motorcyclist died after losing control and crashing head-on into a Kia in Columbia County. Troopers from Livingston were sent by Columbia County 911 at about 8:30 p.m. June 21 to the area of Jackson Corners Road and Hoefer Road in the town of Gallatin for a serious two-vehicle crash. Police said Nicholas H. Hedges, 30, of Red Hook was riding a 2014 Ducati motorcycle when he lost control.

Capital Region BOCES Albany launches nurse aide program July 20

Adults interested in health care can sign up for a new nurse aide and home health aide program through Capital Region BOCES. Capital Region BOCES said the Nurse Aide and Home Health Aide Program is meant for adults who want to start work as supportive caregivers. It also serves people who want to continue their education in the health care field. A new session begins July 20 and runs through Aug. 28. Classes will be held at the Health Careers Center on Watervliet-Shaker Road in Albany.
