Abstract INTRODUCTION RESULTS DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND METHODS Acknowledgments Supplementary Materials REFERENCES Information & Authors Metrics & Citations View Options References Figures Tables Media Share Abstract The self-assembled monolayer (SAM) has driven the rapid increase in the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the operation stability of these PSCs under real conditions continues to be challenging.
Co-crystal engineering of a two-dimensional perovskite phase for perovskite solar modules with improved efficiency and stability - Nature Energy
Abstract The use of two-dimensional perovskite interlayers enables high efficiency in perovskite solar cells and modules but presents challenges for their long-term operational stability. Here we use a co-crystal engineering approach to improve the long-term stability of these devices. We use a neutral molecule, benzoguanamine, as a linker in low-dimensional perovskites, replacing conventional ionic molecules, and form a co-crystal.

Designing multi-metal-site nanosheet catalysts for CO2 photoreduction to ethylene - Nature Communications
Abstract Catalysts featuring multiple active sites hold significant potential for CO2 photoconversion to multi-carbon products. However, multi-metal-site catalysts typically face challenges with low yields and selectivity for ethylene production, with a lack of definitive design guidelines. Here we show that Bader charge can serve as a critical descriptor for delineating the structure–activity relationship of kesterite-like nanosheets in the reduction of CO2 to ethylene.
All-perovskite tandem solar cells achieving >29% efficiency with improved (100) orientation in wide-bandgap perovskites - Nature Materials
Abstract Monolithic all-perovskite tandem solar cells present a promising approach for exceeding the efficiency limit of single-junction solar cells. However, the substantial open-circuit voltage loss in the wide-bandgap perovskite subcell hinders further improvements in power-conversion efficiency. Here we develop wide-bandgap perovskite films with improved (100) crystal orientation that suppress non-radiative recombination.
Self-assembled bilayer for perovskite solar cells with improved tolerance against thermal stresses - Nature Energy
Abstract The adoption of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) requires improved resistance to high temperatures and temperature variations. Hole-selective self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) have enabled progress in the performance of inverted PSCs, yet they may compromise temperature stability owing to desorption and weak interfacial contact. Here we developed a self-assembled bilayer by covalently interconnecting a phosphonic acid SAM with a triphenylamine upper layer.
High-efficiency and thermally stable FACsPbI3 perovskite photovoltaics - Nature
Abstract α-FA1-xCsxPbI3 is a promising absorber material for efficient and stable perovskite solar cells (PSCs)1,2. However, the most efficient α-FA1-xCsxPbI3 PSCs require the inclusion of methylammonium chloride (MACl) additive3,4, which generates volatile organic residues (i.e., MA) that limit device stability at elevated temperatures5.

High carrier mobility along the [111] orientation in Cu2O photoelectrodes - Nature
Abstract Solar fuels offer a promising approach to provide sustainable fuels by harnessing sunlight1,2. Following a decade of advancement, Cu2O photocathodes are capable of delivering a performance comparable to that of photoelectrodes with established photovoltaic materials3,4,5. However, considerable bulk charge carrier recombination that is poorly understood still limits further advances in performance6.

Low-loss contacts on textured substrates for inverted perovskite solar cells - Nature
Abstract Inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) promise enhanced operating stability compared to their normal-structure counterparts1–3. To improve efficiency further, it is crucial to combine effective light management with low interfacial losses4,5. Here we develop a conformal self-assembled monolayer (SAM) as the hole-selective contact on light-managing textured substrates.
Tautomeric Mixture Coordination Enables Efficient Lead-Free Perovskite LEDs - Nature
Abstract Lead (Pb) halide perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) have demonstrated extraordinary optoelectronic performance1-3. However, potential toxicity issues with Pb4,5 mean that removing Pb from the best-performing PeLEDs—without compromising their excellent external quantum efficiencies (EQEs)—remains a challenge.
2D/3D heterojunction engineering at the buried interface towards high-performance inverted methylammonium-free perovskite solar cells - Nature Energy
Abstract The main bottlenecks limiting the photovoltaic performance and stability of inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are trap-assisted non-radiative recombination losses and photochemical degradation at the interface between perovskite and charge-transport layers. We propose a strategy to manipulate the crystallization of methylammonium-free perovskite by incorporating a small amount of 2-aminoindan hydrochloride into the precursor inks.

Revealing the detailed path of sequential deposition for metal halide perovskite formation
Sequential deposition has been extensively used for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells. Nevertheless, fundamental aspects of the kinetics of methylammonium lead iodide perovskite formation remain obscure. We scrutinize the individual stages of the reaction and investigate the crystallization of the lead iodide film, which occurs before the intercalation of methylammonium iodide commences.

The synergistic effect of H2O and DMF towards stable and 20% efficiency inverted perovskite solar cells
High quality thick (500 nm) CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite absorber with the horizontal grain size up to 3 ?m and the lateral size equal to the film thickness was prepared by the synergistic effect of H2O additive and DMF vapor treatment via two-step spin coating method. The inverted (p-i-n) cell based on this high-quality thick perovskite film achieves a high power conversion efficiency of 20.1%.
Valence and conduction band tuning in halide perovskites for solar cell applications
We performed density functional calculations aimed at identifying the atomistic and electronic structure origin of the valence and conduction band, and band gap tunability of halide perovskites ABX_3 upon variations of the monovalent and bivalent cations A and B and the halide anion X. We found that the two key ingredients are the overlap between atomic orbitals of the bivalent cation and the halide anion, and the electronic charge on the metal center.
New Insights Into the Role of Imidazolium-Based Promoters for the Electroreduction of CO2 on a Silver Electrode
The electrochemical reduction of CO to CO is a reaction of central importance for sustainable energy conversion and storage. Herein, structure–activity relationships of a series of imidazolium-based cocatalysts for this reaction are described, which demonstrate that the C4- and C5-protons on the imidazolium ring are vital for efficient catalysis.
Light Management: Porous 1-Dimensional Nanocolumnar Structures as Effective Photonic Crystal for Perovskite Solar Cells
Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite solar cells is a topic with an increasing interest, as in a short time span they are able to lead in the third generation photovoltaics. Organohalide perovskites posses exceptional optoelectronic and physical properties, thus making possible its implementation in many diverse configurations of photovoltaic devices.
A low-cost, high-efficiency solar cell based on dye-sensitized colloidal TiO 2 films
Abstract THE large-scale use of photovoltaic devices for electricity generation is prohibitively expensive at present: generation from existing commercial devices costs about ten times more than conventional methods1. Here we describe a photovoltaic cell, created from low-to medium-purity materials through low-cost processes, which exhibits a commercially realistic energy-conversion efficiency.
