The Wright Stuff: Birds of a Feather
By Michael Wright I’m not an expert on birds by any means. I am fascinated by them and have accumulated a number of books and field guides over time. From the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, I was recently able to download a free app which identifies birds by recording their calls, and then produces a picture alongside their names.
Steven Spielberg's Award-Winning Western Miniseries Starring Josh Brolin and Keri Russell Was an Epic Television Event
It's nearly Thanksgiving, and if you're looking back on America's history during this time, we have the six-part miniseries for you. Back in 2005, Steven Spielberg teamed up with TNT to produce a twelve-hour event (with commercials, mind you) that chronicled the period of expansion within the American frontier between 1825 and 1890, covering some of the most important events of the 19th century.
The Lost Boy podcast: Did Mike Zhao-Beckenridge and his stepfather escape?
And one burning question: Did an 11-year-old Kiwi boy and his stepfather perish in a dramatic 80-metre fall from a clifftop, or did they escape to a new life abroad? The extraordinary story of the disappearance of Mike Zhao-Beckenridge and his stepfather, John Beckenridge, is examined in a new podcast from Stuff and The Press, called The Lost Boy. The pair have not been seen for nearly a decade after Beckenridge abducted Mike from outside his Invercargill school on March 13, 2015.

Is our health system now even more f&$@*!? Original
One thing that didn’t change in this reform was the geography-driven approach to how healthcare was managed. Medicine, of course, is almost always administered locally, but the organisations overseeing this were too. For decades before 1938 hospitals were run by hospital boards. The idea being that local administrators knew best how to spend budgets and run local services. What was required in Northland would be different to what was required in Southland, and so on.
The ‘red flag’ defence: Why there is no case for murder against David Benbow
David Benbow’s defence counsel say he has no better idea than anyone else what happened to Michael McGrath. Iain McGregor / The Press Red flags. Red flags everywhere. The jury in the second trial of David Benbow for the murder of his friend Michael McGrath has heard that the prosecution case is full of warning signs that there is in fact no case at all. A collection of information that, while correct, has been woven into a false narrative of murder.
'A series of inexplicable coincidences': The case against David Benbow
David Benbow stands in the dock of the High Court in Christchurch on Monday for his retrial. Iain McGregor / The Press No body, no weapon, no crime scene. But the case that a Christchurch prison guard murdered his friend with cold premeditation is, allegedly, overwhelming. The second trial of David Benbow for the murder of his friend Michael McGrath began at the High Court in Christchurch on Wednesday.

Should Lauren Dickason have been tried by a jury?
Over a four-week trial, they heard five different psychiatrists and psychologists give evidence about whether Dickason - who killed her three children at their home in Timaru in 2021 - was or was not criminally responsible for her actions. Justice Cameron Mander’s instructions to the jury were a crucial part of the trial. George Heard / Pool That she had killed the children was not in question. Connecting with patients
I usually find consultations with patients easier after I have seen them a couple of times. At this point, I can usually provide care that better meets a patient’s needs as well as understanding their expectations of care. But building the therapeutic doctor-patient relationship begins with the first consultation.

Who has a right in the copy?
In April 1917, Marcel Duchamp exhibited the canonical sculpture Fountain at the Grand Central Palace in New York. Duchamp signed the work “R. Mutt”: a satirical emblem borrowed from “Mott Works,” a manufacturer of sanitary ware. The “artistic work” was a urinal, laid on its side and presented on a pedestal in the gallery. In one simple operation, Duchamp disrupted conventional art practice and the role of the artist, perhaps forever.
Modernizing the eDiscovery Workflow for Emerging Data Sources
The world is changing, and so are the ways we communicate. In wake of the pandemic and the rise of remote work, there has been a proliferation of new ways of meeting. At the same time, people are more aware of cybersecurity and privacy, and they’re more wary of communicating in emails. These days, emails are less frequently used internally. If an organization uses Microsoft Office365, they’re likely communicating more intimately in Teams, meeting in Teams and sharing files in Teams.

Pun with Dick and Jane

If there is any such thing as a spirit animal, my dad’s “spirit animal” was the turtle. He loved turtles. If people gave him his choice of a gift, they would give him a turtle, perhaps of carved, wood, ceramic, ivory, stone, you name it.

“... AFTER AWHILE ALLIGATOR!”
