INTRODUCTION Multispecies coral reef fisheries are a major source of food and nutrients for many tropical coastal communities around the globe. Yet, the sustainability of many of these fisheries remains unassessed at scales relevant for fisheries management, mainly due to a lack of clearly defined, locally relevant sustainable reference points (i.e., management targets or limits) against which fishery performance can be assessed (Branch et al., 2011).
