Players are not predictable, but Pete Carroll is
It is often difficult to predict how most players will perform in a given season, especially when you’re going against what’s expected. For example, my belief that Grayson McCall is one of the top quarterback prospects in the country, or that Zach Wilson is on the verge of becoming a star, or going back a few years ago when I said that Jared Goff was not long for the Rams.
Mike Mayock will make a charitable donation for every Raiders pick in the NFL Draft
We knew that the 2020 NFL Draft was going to be different than the previous drafts since it was supposed to take place in Las Vegas, but due to the coronavirus pandemic we’re still going to see a one of a kind draft as it will be done virtually. This year, the Las Vegas Raiders head into the draft with 7 picks, including two first-round picks, and Raiders general manager Mike Mayock has something planned for each pick.

Mike Mayock's East-West Shrine Game Day 3 observations
Mike Mayock's Day 1 East-West observations | Day 2 ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- One more day to go at the East-West Shrine Game practices with Day 3 behind us. I saw some things on Wednesday that surprised me, in a good way, that will force me to go re-watch some of these guys on tape. Here are some players who stood out to me on Wednesday: Taylor McNamara, TE, USC McNamara had a really good day. He caught a nice up-and-out route and had a touchdown catch in traffic in the red-zone drill.
New Raiders GM Mike Mayock: Jon Gruden Has Final Say Over Roster | Terez Owens
In an interview with ESPN’s Steve Levy at the college football title game Monday night, Mayock spoke about how excited he is to work with Gruden this offseason. When asked what the power dynamic will be like in terms of reporting to team owner Mark Davis, Mayock was surprisingly candid. “In all honesty, Jon’s got final say, if it ever comes to that, and I’ve got zero problems with that,” he said.
Mike Mayock's 2018 NFL Draft Day 1 takeaways
NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock was there to witness and analyze all 32 picks in Thursday's first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Here are his five takeaways from a fascinating Day 1: 1. Good morning, Baltimore: The Baltimore Ravens just philosophically and schematically committed to a new offense.
2018 NFL Mock Draft
Let's not overthink this thing, right? As we've discussed all along on Path to the Draft: Darnold's hands are big enough to keep bad weather from being an issue for him in Cleveland, and his arm is strong enough. Darnold has the lowest potential for failure of any QB the Browns will have drafted since returning to Cleveland in 1999. Turn in the card. Eli Manning can still play at a high level.
Mike Mayock's 2018 NFL mock draft: Bills trade up for Josh Allen
You pair him with Myles Garrett and suddenly you've got the most dynamic edge rushing duo in all of football. He's gonna impact the game on all three downs, and if you look at the Browns, you've got your quarterback of the future and this young defense is better than most think.
Mike Mayock's 2018 NFL mock draft: Browns pick Sam Darnold
I believe Sam Darnold is future of the Cleveland Browns' franchise. I think the beauty of this pick is they signed Tyrod Taylor in the offseason, who I think is an underrated starter. Darnold can develop at his own pace. If he's ready Week 1, that's awesome. If he sits for a year, that's fine too."

2017 Mike Mayock mock draft: Two QB-motivated trades
School: Texas A&M. Garrett is just too good to pass up. He's explosive off the edge. If he works at it and stays healthy, he could be the best DE in football. School: LSU. I want to give them Leonard Fournette, but I think Kyle Shanahan got spoiled in Atlanta with middle-round backs like Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. Pair Adams with Eric Reid, and you'll have one of the best safety tandems in football. School: Ohio State. Lattimore is the best CB in this draft. He'll affect the pass game.

The NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone and some interesting information is now available as the 2017 NFL Draft inches closer. The first big nugget of news to break is that North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky would rather be known as Mitchell Trubisky. Glad we know that. Oh, there was also some guy named John Ross who is really, really fast.

Senior Bowl: Mike Mayock's Day 2 practice stars | NFL.com
MOBILE, Ala. -- Day 2 is in the books at the 2017 Senior Bowl, and what we saw on Wednesday were much crisper practices compared to Day 1. And I expect Thursday's wrap-up sessions to be the best of the week. Players are competing and starting to get it. Here's who stood out to me on Wednesday: Howard's had two really impressive days here, and I think he'll probably end up being the first Senior Bowl player taken in the draft.
Mike Mayock's East-West Shrine Game Day 2 observations | NFL.com
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Day 2 at the East-West Shrine Game practices is in the books, and some players are starting to separate themselves from the pack. Here are a few that flashed for me on Tuesday: This was the star of the morning practice on Tuesday, and really the first two days of practices. He pressured the quarterbacks all day, and was physical coming off the edge. In the one-on-one protection drill, he beat the tackle and then knocked down the coach who was playing quarterback.

Mock draft 1.0: Jack falls to Raiders
Goff took Cal football to a different level, and the Rams hope he does the same in L.A. He's a little bit like Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco, who both started from Day 1. Goff can do the same with the run game and defense the Rams possess. Wentz is a great athlete, but has a different game than Goff. Wentz is more like Andrew Luck, but he might not be ready to start on Day 1 for the Eagles. The Chargers get the opportunity to take the best position player in this draft.

Mock draft 1.0: Titans don't trade No. 2 pick
Winston is the prototypical drop-back passer. He throws too many interceptions, but you can take that if he's willing to make the next step at the NFL level. With last-year's first-round pick Mike Evans and second-round pick Austin Seferian-Jenkins, plus Vincent Jackson, the Buccaneers want to push the football down the field and this kid will help them do that. Critics say the "Oregon spread" doesn't have progressions, doesn't have reads. That's a misconception.
